Contemplating selling my 3203 with 250 hrs on it, in favor of a 3320 or 3520 and getting a front mount blower. I have some back and hip issues which get more agrivated by using the rear mount blower and cranking my body around to see it.

Would like to sell as a package, but.... what's your opinions on what it's worth?? She has only seen the night time stars 3 night in 2.5 yrs (aka.. she sleeps in the shop ALL the time!!)

3203 w/250 hrs
60" Meteor snow blower w/ 12v electric chute control, skid shoes, drift cutter bars
canopy
front and rear work lights
weatherbreak, and rear plexi-glass window w/ manual wiper
300 loader with bucket hooks and reciever hitch
front weight bracket w/ brush guard, (weights not included)
loaded front and rear tires
12v power outlet and fender tray
upgraded seat
chain bucket
possibly... the lighter duty homemade bucket forks..

and sure to have missed a couple items, but you get the idea;)

TOTALLY my opinion.....please dont take this wrong way...
BUT if you want to get top dollar for your machine..I'd put it back the way it was when it left the dealership. None of that stuff adds what you have into it.

All that stuff adds value to YOU, but in general, "Homemade" solutions add little to no value. If anything it detracts value because a buyer like me thinks to himself....has all this stuff been done "correctly" or am I looking at a potential nightmare down the road? I think it will be an easier sale and a more profitable sale if you strip it down back to the way it was when you signed the paperwork on her.

You going to get a factory cab on the new one??

No cab, but would get another weatherbreak and canopy. The $$ for cab vs. what I do with tractor isn't justified right now.

Dave.... what could be considered a "headache and/or problems" with only a few bolt on mods?? Can't see a canopy, couple lights, and a zip tie held rear plexi window, etc. as being major problems down the road??
Not sure I follow you. Let me know where you are coming from please. Thanks.

I still love this tractor very much, but.... my back and hips would benefit greatly from front mount blower setup.

Where I'm coming from...
Not saying YOU did anything wrong (Quite honestly the people here on TBN are quite ingenious and actually very good at the projects they do), but lets just say I've seen my share of things done wrong. From your pics, I see nothing wrong... you got yourself a nice clean working machine..

FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUEMENT...IF your work light wiring were done incorrectly (no fuses, small gauge wire, piggy backed off some other random circuit, etc) you COULD burn the tractor down...

I'm looking for the words to explain it, but it kinda boils down to the used car market...back when I was working at a large GM dealer here, we'd strip down every vehicle back to "factory stock"....trade ins were valued accordingly...all the trinkets & doo dads people thought added value ended up in the dumpster...Same thing happens at my JD Dealer here...I've never seen a used machine on the lot with "aftermarket" or Homemade components on it....they price out trades on the "machine only" knowing full well all the add ons will end up in the dumpster...

On a real simple topic...That seat might be an upgrade for you in the comfort dept, but to me that seat is a downgrade to me no matter what brand/style/comfort level it is....

Another point to my thought process is that you say you'll get another machine, well keep ALL of those pieces & parts and put them on your new one.....

Now I see what you mean Dave. Thanks.
Yea I've thought of keeping a few of the things if.... they will fit the new new machine;) Just curious what opinions are on what this machine is worth.

Just curious what opinions are on what this machine is worth.

That I cant help with...used pricing is very regional...For example the used market seems to be good here in the Northeast...
One thing killing you (and anyone else trying to sell a used machine) regardless of location is the great financing & incentives JD is offering these days...

A good general rule for starting to figure what your equipment is worth: take your purchase price of the tractor & loader, do not include sales tax. subtract 20% for the first year of use, then 10% for each additional year.

for example: lets say you paid $10,000 for tractor X 3 years ago.
10,000 x 20% is 2000 = $8000
8,000 x10% is 800 = $7,200
7,200 x10% is 720 = $6480.

After 3 years your rough value is $6,480.

That is the easy part. Now factor in hours, condition, and the all important regional market demand. Like Spudland_Dave said, here in the North East our market is still strong. With 250 relatively low hours, in "Very Good Shape", tires hold air and are not torn up, the paint is in good shape, the hood & fenders aren't dented / cracked / broken, no oil leaks, all of the recommended PM services have been completed, the bucket isn't in need of welding, etc... With our demand in the North East, I would ADD $1000-$1500 (assuming a John Deere) to $6480 for an asking price.

Remember, you can always come down to meet a perspective buyers offer, but you'll have a hard time going up starting from too low of an asking price.

Hope this helps. Mike

I was just thinking...maybe we're all looking at this from the wrong angle...instead of taking a hit on trading/selling your tractor, why not invest in a front mount kit like this:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/155629-mk-martin-front-mount-kit.html

OR the Erskine front mount:
Skid Steer Attachments - Erskine Attachments, Inc.

Neither one is "cheap" but lets face it...trading up isnt cheap either... The MK Martin kit would allow you to use your existing rear blower (and any other rear attachment) but it would require you fab up a driveshaft like the Erskine kit...some examples are on pg 2 of that first post....
