3130 - Where is the hydro screen???

Ok so I just dropped $220 for a new hydro filter and 12.5 gallons of Super UDT. Im doing my own 50 hour service a little late. I got 70 on it. Ive already changed the engine oil and filter. You guys were right , that filter was almost impossible to remove. I think it was put on with an impact gun. My question is, Where is the hydro screen? The owners manual doesnt show it and before I just start loosening bolts I would like to have good idea where it is at. Thanks for any help!

What hydro screen? A good oil filter wrench makes getting the hydro filter off easy. It is tight and thick because it has to take a lot of pressure. I was talking to the dealer about it and he mentioned that if you put your hand on the outside of the filter, you can actually feel it expand ever so slightly.

I have seen posts on here about cleaning metal shavings off the hydraulic screen and then reinstalling it. Is this something that is only on the BX series and not the L series?

Hi Bill,
I did the 50 hour (Super UDT) service on our L3130 GST yesterday.

I called Darrell (parts man/ mechanic) at the dealership and asked him to look in the parts book and trace the hydraulic system and he said our GST did not show a screen.

I changed the filter and it did have some metal shavings on the magnet. The oil that came out of the hydraulic/transmission looked as good as the new that went back in. It's probably just my imagination, but I used it 3.5 hours today and it seemed to handle better concerning the bucket , not that it was bad before, but it acted like it had a bit more roll back power when digging and the contol was smooth as could be.
