3120 or 3320

Hello to all, Thanks in advance for the input. I am about to order my new Deere this coming weekend and I am still a little unsure which one I should get. I am debating between the 3120 ehydro and the 3320 Power Reverser. (About the same price) Will the 3120 have all the power I need for the loader and my 5ft. Woods Brush Bull. I have never used a loader before, can someone tell if the 3320 with the power reverser will be OK for this? I know the P/R will be OK for all of my other needs. The extra few HP on the 3320 is tempting, will I really notice the small difference? HP, Transmissions, to many questions for someone leaving an old 601 workmaster.

How about a 3320 with e-hyrdo?

I went with the larger engine on the 3320. It pulls my 5' cutter and does everything I throw at it. IMO, E-Hydro is the only way to go.

I would also go with the 3320. It has more power and does not cost that much more to get it. It would be your better option. I also think the ehydro is the preferred transmission here.

I was talking to the JD dealer last week & mentioned the fact that the 3120 & 3720 come std. with e-hydro. I mentioned that I felt penalized in that JD was charging extra $825 for e-hydro on the 3320 & 3520 machines. He thought about it for a moment & said he had not thought about it that way. If you go to the JD site & build one of their machines 3120 or 3720, there's no charge for the e-hydro...on the other hand, try building a 3320 or 3520 and you end up paying an extra $825
Am I being to picky here or perhaps I just don't understand "marketing"?

It's not that there is no extra charge for EHYDRO on those machine... Ehydro is standard on those machines... so the price is already figured in. Ehydro is the base price. That is not so on the 3320 & 3520, Power Reverser is the Base Price.. so you are paying for the upgrade.. so no you are not being penalized.

IMO, if you're _set_ on the eHydro, the best bang for buck is either the 3120 or the 3720 ... if ya really don't care, then the 3320 or 3520 is the best choice.

Not a surprise to me that JD set the base configs up that way.

For example, $1K gets you +3HP from a 3320 w/ehydro over a 3120 ... and $5K gets you +14.5HP with a 3720 over a 3120 ...

The math works out about the same for $/hp ... and if you're pinchin pennies, I can see savin the $4K ... otherwise just step all the way up.

Personally, I'm going through the same "figurin" ... a 3520 might be a good sized machine for me, but I wouldn;t pay for the ehydro if I got that. If I'm going to get an ehydro, I'd just get a 3720 as well ...

so you ARE paying extra for the 2 middle models or they just list them that way so the price breakdown is farther away for all 4 models?

The list price for 3120 is $17,159 and the list for a 3320 with e-hydro is $18,184, a 6% difference.
The 3320 has a larger engine with about 11% more displacement and about 11% more torque. That is what you are paying for.

Go with the 3320 e-hydro. A year from now you will have forgotten about the 6% higher price but you will be happy with the tractor.

I just purchased a jd 3320 w/ehydro and love it. it cost me an extra $700 to get the 3320 w/ehydro over the 3120 i was looking at. My dealer sold me a 3320 w/300x, a 18' matching trailer, lx5 bushhog,and a frontier 5' box blade for $21900. I searched around for a while before I found this deal.
