Decided to fix the bypassed neutral starter safety switch on my '61 3010. Had a difficult time finding the correct switch, so thought I would post my findings now that I finally got it fixed. The biggest help was consulting my service manual, which had a picture of the rubber-bulb style switch and a metal strip in front of it, which I discovered was broken off and missing from my tractor. Without this strip, even the factory switch won't work. My normal, reliable sources didn't have the correct switch, but an eBay vendor had listed "Genuine John Deere OEM Switch #AR26413". This turned out to be the correct one and works great. Attached is the picture from the service manual and the picture of my final repair, so you can see they are pretty much identical now. I hand-fabricated the replacement metal "activator" strip from an old metal shelf divider, to mimic the original. The curved top of the metal strip is important, as the "finger" on the shifter disk swipes at the switch instead of actually pushing the switch. Hope this helps others that may have been scratching their head on their 10 series.
