Tractor
Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
My searching for a tractor locally has come up with a 1999 3010 HST. It has 900 hours, no remotes and is priced at $18000 cdn. Based on local prices around here I think that is a reasonably fair price. The dealer wants an additional $1000 CDN for one remote.

I was hoping to find a machine with fewer hours (<500) and on a private sale, which this is not (means I have to pay sales taxes), but I am strongly considering this setup as it will get me in at a lower price.

Any thoughts on the pluses and minuses of this model? I'm assuming that 900 hrs is not much - what do you think? I'm told it is a one owner machine used by a specialty veggie grower - not sure what he primarily did with it other than FEL work.

Here's the picture of it btw.

L3010 was a very popular model, now replaced with the current L3130. Kubota sold thousands of them and they have a reputation as a reliable, solid workhorse. It's the lowest horsepower tractor in the Grand L series. Some folks who have hills or need to run a 6ft bush hog wish they had a few more ponies under the hood, but other than that, most everyone who owned one has liked it.

900 hours is just getting broken in. If it's had regular oil changes and other maintenance, it should give years of service.

Since it has a FEL, I would check the front axle for wear.

Can't speak for the price.

My first Kubota had 2500 hours on it when I purchased it and was 25 years old. It ran perfectly without a problem. My L3010 is five years old and has about 550 hours on it. As already mentioned. The L3010 was the smallest of the L tractors. I was looking at a B2910 at the time which was the largest of the B series tractors. The L3010 felt more comfortable to me personally and I figured that the heavier duty components of the L series would suit me well. My land is pretty flat so I have never had any issues with the power of the machine.

They are good solid machines. I wouldn't worry about the 900 hours at all.

Good Luck,
Kevin

As luck would have it, I called about it the day it was listed and the darn thing was already sold!. I called elsewhere today about a 2 year old JD 4310 that would have fit the bill nicely and that sold the day it was advertised also!

I'll keep an eye open for another one of these. Thanks for the input.
