300CX justa leakin\' away....

First the good news.
I finally scratched the paint on my new 300CX's bucket.
Whoa, what a difference working with a 3720/300CX over my old 4300/430.
I never considered what more engine power would do for moving a pile of dirt.
The tractor felt like King Kong..

OK, now for the problem..
The loader was leaking fluid from the top of the lift cylinder.
Since all of the telescopic parts are at the opposite side of the cylinder, where is the fluid coming from?
All fittings are tight, and it seems to be leaking where the end where the cylinder bolts to the loader..

Anybody else have this problem?

Re: 300CX justa leakin\' away....

If it's leaking at the fixed end of the cylinder, and you say there is no fitting there, then it must be a defective cylinder at the weld.
Have you notified your dealer. Things happen, and it may have happened to you, somehow.

There is a fitting near both ends of the cylinder, to push the rod out, and to push the rod back. This doesn't fit your description, however. I suspect a fitting is loose and it may be the one on the curl cylinder.

I'll be curious to hear what it really turns out to be. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Picture? arrows pointing to leak?

It's definitely at the non working end.
A picture won't help because I just can't seem to pin point the leak with my eyes 3" away from it.
I also have to believe the cylinder must be defective because there just aren't any fittings/seals in the area.

George,

I read about your question regarding whether I had a similar leak. My leaking 3720 was coming from the transmission, just in front of the rockshaft. I have, to date, not had a problem with the loader leaking. My thought is that you have a bad cylinder. I do not see any way around having your dealer replace it, which they would likely gladly do to help. As my dealer said to me, "These are expensive machines, they should never leak, anywhere or at anytime." Good food for thought. Good luck.

GeorgeC,

Still around? Any update on what the problem ended up being? I ask because this past weekend I saw yellowish/whiteish liquid running out of one of my loader arms. Although it drips when I raise the bucket, it really runs out (an ounce or so) when I curl the bucket. Tried to find the actual leak and could not so I assume it is on the end up inside the loader arm. Called the dealer, it is still under warranty, and they will send out a tech in a couple of days.

Overall did not lose that much fluid considering it holds 6-7 gallons I believe, and I probably lost 15-20 ounces. I kept checking the dip stick and it was reading slightly above the full mark. I also made sure I took all the pressure off the system when I parked it.

Opinions on what may have caused it to go? Probably not until I find out for sure what the actual problems is, but are there any actions that are likely to cause a loader cylinder to fail? I had the RPM's up (~2200) and was only lifting and scraping mulch so I wat not close to the 1500-2000lb limit of the loader.

Thanks,

Steven
