I am ready to buy a 3000dt but am still concerned that it doesn't have enough weight to handle my 6 foot heavy duty Woods RB600 grading blade on my steep roads. I'm rehashing old ground here but would sure like some advise/ comments before I commit to this purchase. Anxious to buy with cold feet at the same time. Thanks all for any comments,
JD

I don't know how steep the slopes are or how loose the ground is where you are. I just got a 7 foot Land Pride rear blade for my L3000DT and using it to move snow didn't cause the tractor to break traction at all.

The rear tires are loaded on the tractor so that helps a little. This past fall I groomed a friends driveway, which I consider really steep, with my York rake. The Kubota didn't hesitate even with a good load of gravel pulling up hill.

I am really impressed with it's performance.

I use a woods Rb84 (7footer) on a 2500DT without a problem. The 3000 is bigger. You should have NO problem with a 6 footer but I would consider a 7 footer. Remember you lose quite a bit when angled to the maximum angle.

Thanks all. You all are nice folks. No one asked what a 6 fot blade was. I'm going for it. Called and left a message w/ my salesman today. My CEO is supportive as long as I sell the Ford 2000 to help keep my payments down. I married well. I'm going to put fluid in the back tires and might add rear weights later if needed. Going to build a home made front weight box right away. I have a bunch of old iron window weights I might set in concrete in the box. Anybody see plans for home built front weights? I'll keep you all posted on my progress. Spending money can be fun if you buy the right toys! Thanks again, JD

I've got a 6' blade I'm using on an 18.5HP JD 670 (got the blade for < $100). It's a heavy son of a gun!
However, it works fine with the 670 for snow and such.
Now, I can't take a big bite at one time. And, when it comes to snow, I'm sure I'd better plow when it gets to 6 or 7 inches (we've only got 3" so far).
Bottomline, if a 6' blade works with a small tractor like my 670...no doubt a 6' blade will work with your 3000dt.

One thing I've noticed over the last few months...the limitations on the older tractors never seemed to be problems. It either did the job, or it didn't (and most the time it did!). Seems like folks just installed whatever implements they had...not too much concern about the sizes (within reason).

Is there some kind of blade work your Ford now does that you're concerned the 3000 won't do as well?

My bet is you are about to be very pleasantly impressed with your new rig.

I have a friend with an L2900 (I think) and he handles a 6 foot blade with NO trouble. He even tilts it up and uses the corner to cut ditches on his horse farm. I'd call him and confirm the tractor number, but Uncle Sam got him and sent him out to play army in the Afgan desert for a year. Poor guy is 50 and sleeping in the sand.
