I'm not surprised at what things cost these days, but good quality 48-60" tillers are steep! I thought with the new tractor I could retire the earthquake walk-behind for the food plots. Maybe next year... Or the year after that... :(

Have you thought about renting one. My locale NH dealer rents tillers for $50 per day.

I never considered renting one. I could rent one for 30 years straight and still be ahead! I got a quote of $1795 for a Bush Hog RTC48 and $2250 for a Kuhn EL 23-150. I checked tractor supply and they are at $1549 for the 4' KK II, but that thing is heavier than my manual recommends. None of the TSC stores had the smaller XB model. Craig's list is full of 3 pt tiller wanted ads and no tillers

Just checked a local tractor place. They rent 3 pt tillers for $90/day. Worth considering...

I need to check a couple tractor stores locally too as I would like to rent a tiller, I rent a few things from the rental places, Backhoe couple times, bobcat, and ditch witch, but I asked them about a tiller, they have a 50 some inch tiller for 65.00 a day, but no insurance available on it, you tear it up, you have to pay to fix it, didn't like that idea, any past problems might come up when I'm using it, so I will check a couple of dealers,

My local Grand Rental Station rents an old (sorry dont know what model) JD 58" tiller for 45$ a day. I rented it many ties before I bought my Woods GT-60. Call all the rental places in your area. They are not common and hard to find.

There seems to be a really big price difference across the nation even within the same brand - I just picked up a 72" KK II with slip clutch gear driven for $1549 at the local Fleet Farm store - they still have 6 left in inventory.

The CCM sells a tiller (they're logo is on this site) appear to be decent tillers. I think shipping is always an issue but I'd call them and see what they can do. Agri-Supply sells a Caroni brand fairly reasonable also. A tiller is a major investment. I've went as far as rebuilding a few Grey market rice tillers and they hold up pretty good after some major work. Doing the farmer thing is expensive and for most people it's a hobby not a business. I've use my tractor to maintain two acres and put in a new home. occasionally I'll till for a neighbor. My point is a tractor and enough attachments to do anything are expensive to own and maintain. I've wondered if I'll be able to not "have" to own a tractor some day and be able set in front of the boob tube and watch the news or a ball game. Oh well, I guess I can dream. bjr

I have no complaints regarding my CCM M-160 tiller. The dealer support is exceptional :D! Jay
