I have a TZ25DA. This week my Envoy broke with a Rod Knock. I need to move my trailer (12X5) and do not have a vehicle. I am looking for a bar that crosses between the rear PTO bars and has a Trailer Ball (2") in the middle. That way I can control the height of lift and can use it when I load the trailer with Mulch, Dirt... once I get a replacement vehicle.

I thought I saw something like this on Ebay a while ago. Does anyone have any sources for something like this?

I modified a truck reciever hitch to work on my 3pt. Just a word of advice, remember when hooked up if load is rear heavy the 3pt will raise up, there is no pressure to hold it down.

Tractor Supply has one too. It goes between the lift eyes, and up to the top link, and has a 2" receiver hitch on it. That's what I have. It works better than the old drawbar type, because it stays parallel as you lift and lower, and doesn't turn. I think it was about $100. can't remember.

TSC now carries a 3pt receiver hitch with a 2" ball if you need it quickly

I need to buy one fairly quick. I am going to check out TSC (Tracter Supply?) as I need to move the trailer by mid January. There is one not far, I just need the time while I ponder what to replace the Envoy with. The GMC Dealer will give $2,000.00 for a 99 with a loud noise (seems like a gift to me!).

I checked out the one in the first posting and I need to go to Tractor Supply for the Horizontal Bar so if the price is right I should be able to get everyhing in one stop!

Thanks to ALL

Al, I'm pretty sure that is just a typo above about the PTO, but I think you meant to say 3-point hitch (3PH) arms. The PTO is the rotating shaft that drives powered rear implements. You also mentioned being able to control the height of the lift with the trailer attached. This is possible, but you really want a tongue-heavy trailer to do that. As newt92 pointed out, this can get interesting if the trailer is heavy in the rear or a heavy trailer pushes against the tractor and causes the arms to lift. The 3PH has no down pressure, so if you don't hold it in place, there is nothing to keep it from lifting. Most new tractors have a swinging drawbar under the PTO that is fixed and eliminates this danger. Unfortunately, it doesn't move, so you can't lift or lower the trailer tongue.

I'm attaching a photo and illustration that shows a drawbar and the proper use of drawbar stays to keep it from lifiting and the drawbar lock to keep if from rotating. Tractor Supply should have all these parts in stock, but if they don't have the drawbar stays, you can chain the lift arms down to stabilize them. Just remember to not raise the 3PH lever. It will either break the chain or lift the hydraulic pressure relief valve if you forget.

They sell a 3ph that takes the 2" receiver type truck hitch at Northern tool, I built mine but I think they are $200 plus. Top link hooks to this type of hitch, so it is non turning like the flat one (without the stablizer)

My local CNH dealer sold a bar kit to convert a 11 hole draybar to have toplink connection.. kit was 20$.. you supply the trailer ball.. etc.

Al,

That's the contraption I rigged up to lift stuff off of the ground using a horizontal draw bar. I can add a ball if I were to pull a trailer as well. Cost was about $22, but did have a small junk pile of stuff to do it with. The uni-strut is placed in there for tying to the 3 point top link to keep the draw bar from rotating.
