3 pt. pallet mover versus carryall

Since I'm recovering from CTS surgery I decided I needed help and I had been wanting a carryall. I went to the local getting place only to find they were out of carryall's. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I came home with a 3 pt. KK pallet mover. The things handier than a pocket. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I've seen mention of using pallet forks on fels but "I've" not seen any mention of the 3 pt. pallet mover. Is my experience the norm or does the carryall have some benefits that the pallet mover doesn't have?

The pallet mover is just that.. a pallet mover. It is heavier, and more expensive... and would be harder to drill thru if you wanted to mount a platform to it...

The carryall is lighter weight.,... thus easier to hook up. Also, the carryall is pre-drilled with holes to add say.. wood decking, etc ( or at least my KK was ).

And that is what i did.. I added some planking to it using a small pallet as a frame, etc.

The carryall has holes in the angle iron to bolt on boards. This way you can bolt on a platform, box etc... You could basicaly do the same thing with the pallet mover by building a stand alone platform/box then chain, pin or use brackets to hold it in place.

I would rather have the pallet mover but they didn't have any. However the carryall fits in 90% of the pallets I have. There is only a couple that are to short to get into. Its' been very handy to have moving lumber, bricks, implements etc... during our house construction.

I noticed the lack of holes right away, and it was a little more expensive. However, I have a couple of (free) machine crates given to me that fits the need to haul just about anything. One is 5' W by 4' H by 30" D. The other is 6' W by 4' H by 30" D and may become a deer blind. Overall I'm very pleased with this mover.

I made a carryall about 15 years ago, and thought it was the greatest tractor attachment possible.
This year, I made a forklift which will fit both the FEL (more lift height) or the 3-point hitch (more weight capacity). It is much handier than the carryall because you can leave loads on pallets, just pick them up and go. Pallets are easy to get here - local factories set out excess ones for the public to take.
The carryall has been converted into a ballast box.

Well, went to TSC and they said they don't carry that particular item from King Kutter. I asked them to order it and they said they don't take special orders. Is that dumb or what ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They must not want to stay in business, but in all honesty this was the first 3 pt. pallet mover I had seen around here. $69.99 for a carryall they didn't have, $109.99 for the pallet mover. Could have driven 65 miles one way to another dealer but decided I needed it that day. Don't regret it at all.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
