Has anybody ever found a compact PTO driven blower suitable for blowing leaves out of the lawn? I was looking for something small enough for the 3 Pt to carry with a trailing wheel and all I can find are LARGE pull behind models that look like the would blow away the tree and all.
Thanks,
Tazbota

Look around for pecan farming equipment. They blow the pecans (and anything else on the ground) into windrows to harvest the pecans. I've only seen one of these operations on TV, so I'm not sure of the different sizes... Just an Idea.

Two companies that make 3PH debris blowers are:(1) Agrimetal (www.agrimetal.com) and (2) Toro (www.toro.com). Toro recently bought the design from the Goossens company. They are in the golf course maintainence section of the Toro website.

Taz,

did you buy Muhammad's book? It has a list of implement manufacturer & web sites. I think I recall that one of them had a three point blower. I know they are out there, just don't remember where.

FYI I have an old Little Wonder walk behind blower. It has an 8HP briggs & more than enough power to push the leaves. I've considered getting a carryall so I could convert it to a tractor implement (strap it down on the carryall). It is heavy to push or pull up a hill. Plus it's always more fun to ride than walk.

I built my own (Tim Taylor driveway blower) using an old discarded woods belt drive finish mower & an old blower out of a furnace. It is 3 point mount. Since I took these pictures, I have removed more of the rear portion of the deck & the wheel & just carry it with the lift. I think I can run the blower about 3 times the speed it was designed for in the furnace. Works Great, cost a little of my time.

Blows this 2x4 stud off the drive from 8' away at about 1/2 throttle.

Neal,
Great idea. I have a extra blower, but I will try to get a larger one. A blower like that could save me some real time.

Neal,
Great idea. I like the idea of building some type of blower, as it allows one to exercise their brain cells and save $$ at the same time. Thanks to everyone for the idea's, websites and feedback on this topic. I think it's time to brainstorm a blue print for a "Custom" blower.

Great idea and a tip of the hat to your ingenuity. What does the neighbor do with the leaves?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Fortunately, my closest neighbor is about 1/4 mile each way from me but I sure do like it, since I have about 1500' of driveway to clean. Haven't tried it on leaves yet, but will do so this fall. I have seven 70' tall pecan trees in the yard.

Not sure about the ingenuity. About four years ago I saw where a farmer had rigged up a paddle blade blower on his tractor pto to blow out the feed troughs on his cattle operation. I liked it when I saw it, but took 4 more years to figure out I had everything I needed in the scrap pile to do the job. I believe that is a little on the slow side.

Theres a company RAD made in canada makes a 3pt debris blower/leaf blower, range 20 hp to 40 hp, not a bad looking unit, i think around 2,000.00. i saw 1 at the dealer i buy from here in connecticut. If your interested i'll give you his name or find out if theres more info on the on the company.

we have a blower at work made by Olathe. I don't know too much about it, other than we use it on a NH 3930 (45 PTO HP) and a Kubota L3250. We also have some walk behind blowers made by Lesco I believe.

Hope it is not too late to throw my two cents in! I saw another question about leaf equipment that reminded me of this thread and I will direct you to the same source:

I have seen the Giant Vac 3pt blower in action. It is second only to a typhoon for leaf removal.

Notice Neal's house (or garage, anyway) is mabe of brick. I s'pose the house made of straw, and the one made of sticks, would just get blown away, when he huffs n' puffs.

He's a smart little piggy.
