Does anyone have experience with a 3 pt hitch mounted fertalizer spreader ? I see topics on manure spreaders but I am looking for a spreader for lime and lawn fertalizer. I am tired of walking the miles to spread the stuff. I have 2 questions.
1. How well do they really work ?
2. How much do they cost on average.

Thanks
Ray

Powdered lime is the hardest to spread with a broadcast spreader. Fertilizer is very easy. The best site I have found for pricing and models is www.easternfarmmachinery.com they handle herd, vicon, thompson, gandy, millcreek and some other spreaders.

Ray,
If you're talking about the 3 point pto driven ones they work really well and cost between $500 and 1500 depending on how good of a one you get. I don't see them too often used. The most important thing is make sure and clean them out after use especially with fertilizer.

Vicon makes one of the best spreaders like you want, if you are going to spread lime make sure you buy a spreader with a good agitator in the cone to keep the lime from bridging.
