3 point post hole digger question

I recently used my 3 pt mounted post hole digger for the first time to help out a neighbor with a project and had a question. I found that as the auger went down into the ground I had to creep the tractor forward to keep the hole straight up and down. I find it deceiving from inside the cab as to whether the auger is staying plumb as it digs down and was wondering if anyone had any tips or had made any type of device to mount on the unit to indicate your plumb.

You can mount a 'lever' 90 degrees to the rear OR extend one strait up... either will give you a visual clue... KennyV

I have my wife help, she gives me a visual and tells me how much to creep forward. I find that after I dig a half dozen holes I get my sea legs back and can do it on my own.

Thankyou KennyV and BeezFun for the quick responses. I think I might make a simple pendulum type device to indicate the angle when drilling solo and use walkie talkies when there is another person present to give directions. (I found I could not hear my neighbor well with the cab and do not want people close to the tractor when in use.)
