3 point on 3930 acting up...

I have a ford 3930 that I was using the boom pole on to pull some stuff and later in the day the hitch got to where when I had a good lift on it the hydraulics would not let the three point go down. The first time it did it I was trying to pull some small brush and it wouldn't pull it so I went to lower the hitch and it would not respond and the pump still sounded like it had a strain on it so I turned off the tractor with no change. I smacked the chain to get it loose on the brush and as soon as there was no pressure on it the boom lowered. Honestly the hitch didn't seem like it had full pressure but maybe it did, it just didn't seem like it was lifting hard.Any ideas would be appreciated..

I have said this many many times.

If every tractor owner would install a hyd gage and use it, they would have a good idea of what is happening in the hyd system.

When you are doing work with hyd, you will see the pressure on the gage.

The hyd gage is very handy for trouble shooting the hyd system.

For instance, if you are using the 3pt and see the relief pressure, then you are working at max system pressure.

If you are only seeing half system pressure while trying to raise the same load then the seals on the cyl are leaking or the pump is bypassing.

As far as the 3pt hanging up, when you lower the lever, you are opening the valve to release the fluid.

The fluid has to pass by the descend orifice on it's way to tank. Rust or debris might inhibit/block the flow.

You might check, clean out the descend knob assembly unit.
