Yanmar 1820D
Hello everyone. I am a new yanmar owner and new to the forum. I just recently purchased a yanmar 1820D with 400 hours on it. I also got a Koyker 110 FEL and a yanmar 1300? series tiller. The implement that i want to use the most (after the FEL of course) is my Howse 4 ft' box blade. MY problem is that at the full down position the front blade is not contacting the ground. the rear blade does but at an angle. I'm not getting the full force of the wieght of the implement to the ground. I have tried differnt length top links to no avail. I'm thinking (probably most of my problem) that my lower lift arms are not long enough or my connecting links(the links that attach the top lift arms to the bottom ones) may not be long enough. Tractor supply has some adjustable connecting links but they do not have the bends neccessary for the yanmar arms. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are two sets of holes in the lower arms. Are you connected at the front holes? The rear holes are for using the tiller. If you are connected to them, the arms will not go down far enough. Usually the front hole will let the arms go almost to the ground.

Thanks so much! That was the thing to do. I had noticed the upper pin holes before but was not sure as to what they were for scince they were kinda raised on a flange above the arm. moved the links and wallllaaa!!!! the 3 point goes a lot further down. thanks again kayssupply.

Here is my tiller setup. Am I using the wrong hole on the lower arms? Why would you want to restrict how low the tiller can go?

Thanks,

I think it may be to restrict how high it goes. It might keep the shaft from too much angle. Also it attaches higher on a tiller than most other implements , so it doesn't need to be in the other holes to reach down far enough.

My 186D has a adjustable selective control system which limits the travel of the lower arms. It is a sliding shaft that moves through a bracket on the upper arms. There are adjustable spring loaded stops on the sliding shaft. Does the 1820 have something like that?

Nothing that fancy on the 1820D Pennwalk. Would like to see what you are talking about though sounds interesting. My 1820D came with a hydraulic connecting link (from upper to lower arms) on the right side. It is controlled by a small joystick on the right handed fender. I had never seen one before. This is my first tractor. It has a couple of switches on the joystick box but the are labeled in japanese which i'm not proficient in, so i have no clue as to what function they control. The hydraulic link is way nice though wth the box blade because it lets me angle the blade for crowning my driveway. This little tractor seems way more powerful than its stated 21.5 horsepower. I lifted the front end of a 1984 3/4 ton chevy truck and moved it about 10ft. probably way more stress than the front bearings or loader needed but it did it. Amazing little tractor. I am well pleased with it so far except for those pesky 5-14 front tires.

I know that you have already solved your problem, but here is what I did. My ym1700 came with stubby lower lift arms, and I replaced them with the ford 8n arms like TSC sells.

Worked great.. lots of tire clearance too!
