I have a Branson 47 and I find the lever for the 3 point linkage is not very smooth in operation and makes things a bit jerky when raising the arms, is there anyway to adjust it?
Thanks

Yes, you have a couple options. The lever has a couple of friction discs with a big spring applying pressure that set the friction on the lever.

You can try and pray something like WD40 or similar around that area. This will help for a bit till it dries again.

From the rear of the tractor, if you follow the lever on the right all the way down, you'll see a big spring, two studs with a plate and nuts (nut + jam nut). Essentially you loosen the jam nut, then loosen the other nut in equal amounts between both studs. Try to keep it equal on both sides by counting the flats or turns. Move the lever back and forth to see if you like the feel. Adjust till you're happy. In the end, tighten the jam nut again.

The wrenches are 12mm if I remember correctly, could be 14mm but that's unlikely. You'll need two. One for the jam nut and the other to hold the other nut while you tighten the jam nut.

From factory, they tighten that spring all the way down for some reason, which makes for a stiff lever. Plus it's a short lever, which makes it worse. On mine, I added an extension and helped a lot.

Thank you 👍🏻

This thread got me thinking about a related issue about the 3 point lever sensitivity. I have experienced the same problem as the OP when trying to control small lever movements and I will definitely make the recommended friction adjustments outlined but there also seems to be poor sensitivity response with small lever movements.

You can tap the lever in small increments with no movement then all of a sudden there is a larger than desired movement. I know the flow control knob can be adjusted to slow down the movement speed but that does not affect the positioning accuracy. Is this something than be adjusted or modified to improve fine positioning or just a designed in shortcoming for this tractor.

Hi Bruce
I also have this issue if anyone knows of a fix

Loosening the tension on the lever makes a huge improvement in the smoothness of small movements. I had to back mine off three times before it was loose enough to work right.

The throttle lever has a similar friction device and mine was also too tight. You have to disassemble the instrument panel to get to it but it wasn't that hard and was it pretty obvious what I needed to remove.
