3 Point Hitch on X475

Anyone installed a 3 point hitch on their X series tractors? I'm interested in getting one and just wondering if the avg. mechanical inclined person like myself can do it? Which is better the CAT 1 or CAT 0? Are theris hydraulic lines to run? Need some info.

I have seen a thread about this in the past. If my memory is correct, it can be done by a shade tree mechanic.

Yes , it's pretty easy . The only challenging part is hooking up the lift cylinder underneath. Not much room to work, but doable. Make sure to blue loctite everything.oh ya, definately cat 1! More available attachments, more common.

I installed the cat 1 hitch on my x749 last year when I bought it and the 540 pto. Took me about 4 hours to do both of them.

I also recommend the cat 1 hitch, more implements to choose from.

How much was the three pt and pto? Isn't it about 1200?

Thanks for all the help. Any ideas on PTO costs? Looking at gettin a rear PTO tiller. Know where I can pick up tiller pretty cheap.

Don't remember what the pto and 3ph kits cost individually as the dealer added the msrp of the 749 and add ons together and discounted everything 15%. So far I have used the pto to run a spinspreader and a chipper, the 3ph gets used all the time for various attachments.

Really came in handy today with a 5' rearblade pushing 12" of snow off a large driveway. I usually buy heavy duty implements but for this job I went with a TSC Countyline rearblade, light in weight and cheap at $250. Scraped the asphalt clean yet light enough not to scratch it.:thumbsup:

My take on the limited cat1 hitch, it is alot more useful than I expected it to be. It has reduced the amount of times I need to move the larger tractors in to do a small job or work on a finished lawn. Definately saves me time and money.
