Does anyone have any experience with Faza 3pt hitch mortar mixers? I have a ton of brick and block work to do, and I think I would rather have a 3 pt mortar mixer that a tow behind like I've had in the past. There is one listed on ebay for$995 and I would post the link but I can't figure out how - oh well.

Thanks

to post a link you just open he explorer to the page and Right click and hold and highlight the address in the address bar. then go into the test box here and right click paste. it should show up as a click able link
copy and paste what would we do without it...

I got a thread deleted for posting a link to craigslist,
The mod said the same rule applied to ebay.
The thread you started with the above title has been removed because links to craigslist (and ebay) are no longer permitted on Tractorbynet because of the number of scams on those websites. And you didn't do anything wrong because it's a new enough rule that you couldn't be expected to know it.

Are you sure you are looking at a mortar mixer and not a cement mixer? A cement mixer just tumbles, a mortar mixer blends with paddles that move inside the drum. you can use both but the mortar comes out much better with a true mortar mixer.
My business is selling and repairing mortar mixers, I am a dealer for two brands for 8 years now. I'm sure if masons could get by with tumblers they would because they are easier to keep clean. Same for the stucco guys.
There have been some good prices on craigslist lately for used mortar mixers with construction all but stopped now, you might want to look at that.

I started to look at 3pt mixers awhile ago but decided against them for a couple of reasons. First most likely I'll be doing the work myself and having a large amount of cement waiting could pose a problem if I couldn't work fast enough to get it poured. Second, I will be most likely using my tractor at about the same time as I'd be mixing. And finally the cost. I picked up a HF 1.5cuft for around $250 (give or take) and even if it died tomorrow I still have already got my money's worth out of it. They also have a couple of larger ones for a bit more. Still it depends on your situation.

Good luck.

[edit] oops, I meant 3-1/2cu.

I bought this 3.5 cuft model from HF and it does a GREAT job. At first I thought maybe I should just mix the mortar and concrete for my smaller jobs in the wheel barrel. After using this, if it broke, I would run out in a minute to buy another. It works great and you should be able to get it on sale for around $200. I will never mix anything again by hand given how well these work. Everything mixes evenly with almost no effort. I found that if you put it up higher with one cinder block under each leg or wheel, you can get a wheel barrow underneath it perfectly. Once you get the mix right, you add in a couple 3 bags of mortar or concrete and a predetermined amount of water and sit back and watch it mix. I bet I have run a couple of tons of material through mine and with a good cleanup after each use, it looks like the day I bought it.

If you mix 10 bags a year, buy one of these (or some other type of mixer). You won't be disappointed.

Yep, I am sure I want a mortar mixer NOT a cement mixer. I'm well aware of the difference, having owned a 3 bagger that was way too big for my purposes. The reason I wanted to know about the machine is that it looks like it is a mortar mixer with the paddles rotating and the barrel stationary. However, in the photos the paddles look a tad on the small side. Hence my question if anyone has experience with the Faza machine.

I have no interest in owning a cement mixer. I am also interested in the 3 point hitch model (if it really is a mortar mixer) rather than a pull behind because I am sick and tired of rolling a wheelbarrow from where the mixing takes place to where I need the mortar. Being able to drive the tractor and dump the mortar into the pan beside where I am working at that particular point in time has a great deal of appeal to my back :)

Thanks for the replies - anybody own a 3 point hitch mortar mixer of any make?
