Does anyone make such a thing?

I love the way that a walk behind dethatcher will grind out the rough spots in my lawn without completely tilling up the grass, but a 20" wide unit takes a long time to do several acres.

I made one solely because I got my hands on one for free from a ZT mower. It works. I have a new lawn to use It on and thus far it's been too soggy to take the tractor on. Here it is:

I built the one posted by madreferee; just used it Sunday. Does a great job and doesn't tear up the lawn, just pulls all the dead stuff up.

I really dont think anyone makes a 3pt "Power" Dethatcher. Ive searched several times with zero results.

I made one out of an old EZ Rake spring tine power dethatcher which were sold as an attatchment for use on the front of some garden tractors. Some are belt driven off the tractors front pto. Others have there own Briggs engine bolted to the top of the deck.

I replaced the 3hp briggs with a mower deck gearbox and added the 3pt hitch.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a little more than that. Pulling or pushing a de-thatcher through the lawn will not compare to what a powered unit can do.

Walk behind power rakes have spinning blades that knife through the grass and chew away at high spots.

I'm envisioning something more like a harley rake, but less aggressive.

I used a Bluebird power rake like this:

It has spinning blades:

So when you hit a high spot, it chews into the dirt and mills away the high spot without totally destroying the existing turf.

A 5' wide power rake like this would really help level and smooth out my yard. (it would also be more practical than doing all 2 acres in 20" swaths)

My EZ Rake rig is 42'' wide. I will be replacing the spring tines to solid steel reel blades, like whats on my Ryan Mataway overseeder. That thing really can cut down into the dirt.

I would suggest a 4' flail mower with the replacement dethatching blades as someone else said. It will take all the horsepower your JD 2520s got though to run one.
