We have acres of those tall skinny maples that fall over all the time.
Getting rid of the long skinny branches can be a time consuming nightmare. Since my wife is a pyro and loves her night time fires the 3" and up branches are firewood.
She has given the ok on chipping the smaller stuff which is about 1/2 the tree!

Looking for recommendations on a 3 point chipper that will last for years to come.
My biggest issue would be parts. I dont want something I cant get parts for 10 years down the road.
Seems like everyone who sells these has a great chipper.

I love my McKissic TPH-122. It'll do up to 3-3.5" in the chipper hole and up to 3/4" or so in the shredder chute. Main thing about it is it's very easy to maintain. Have had mine since about 2004 or sometime in 2005. Bought it from the JD dealer. Have rotated the hammers about 3 times, replaced the 1 (out of 4) bearings that isn't zerk lubricated and have had the chipper blade sharpened several times. Even the bearing replacement was easy. Hammer rotations are a piece of cake vs. about a 3 or 4 hour job and need for new parts on my old TroyBilt Tomahawk.

Pretty sure the DR chippers are McKissic. Could compare their prices.

I've been real happy with my Wallenstein BXM Chipper/shredder. It has performed well for 3 years, so far. I like the quality of the machine and the price from the folks at Woodward Crossing was competitive.

I have a bush hog brand CP110 or something like that. It is a rebranded Goossen. It does 5" branches in the chipper. No power feed. But what I like is the shredder. The shredder uses a big hopper, and will handle big bunches of branches up to 1-1/4" diameter and is way faster than the chipper for the smaller stuff. It sure is hungry! The shredder will literally rip the branches out of your hands. Gone in a split second. It is belt drive, which is forgiving if the cage gets jammed from too much green stuff or whatever. Prevents shear pins from breaking or worse: pto damage. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to remove a ton of bolts to get to the chipper blades. Other than that, it should last a lifetime.

I have a Woodmax chipper with a hydrolac feed. Unit is about three years old and performs as advertised.
I've only had one minor problem with the hydrolac system which Woodmax promptly rectified at no charge.
Although the unit is made a cross the pond, all the consumable parts, belts, hoses, and bearings are locally available at most Napa Stores.
I really like being able to stuff a limb into the feed rolls at waist level and while the machine is doing it's thing go grab another limb.
I run my chipper with a 45hp tractor and chip stuff up to around 4-5" with no sweat on the tractors part.

I follow Budweiser John. I have the hydraulic feed model and I run it off an L4400 Kubota, which is larger than yours of course but it aint the size of the wand, but the magic behind it.
Ya might as well go read the owner reviews on their website. Maybe you can find someone near you to demo for you. I am happy with mine and the way they run their business.

I purchased a chipper a week or so ago. I looked at quite a few but I was looking for something to shred smaller material as opposed to chipping larger stuff. Might be worth a look.

I have a Woodmaxx with hydraulic feed. I only have 22 pto HP and it does just fine with maple under 3". The hydraulic feed is adjustable in speed.

I've had an Echo-BearCat for a couple of years. I have one of these... ECHO Bear Cat | Products It does a great job but it does work you. I do like the shredder part of it. It's super heavy duty and built in the USA.

But... I'll be honest, it takes a lot of effort to cut all of the branches into straight sticks to feed into the chipper feed. It works me to death! My BIL helped me with a couple of trees the summer before last and, even though he's in great shape, it wore him out too. I'm considering putting it up for sale and then buying a WoodMaxx hydraulic feed with the proceeds. Although I hate to buy a Chinese product, pretty much everyone on here that has a WoodMaxx has only good things to say about it. Most of what I have around here to chip, and the reason I bought my chipper in the first place, is honeysuckle that has a LOT of "Y" branches so it takes forever to cut all those Y's to feed into the chipper. I'm all about getting what it takes to make my life easier.

Rebeldad1 keep us posted on what you buy. I have the same tractor - Bobcat CT225 and I also am looking to get a chipper. Probably pull the trigger in the spring. The Woodmaxx looks very promising.
