DK40. You might be able to negotiate the grapple into the price. Visit another dealer or two.

You definitely do not need to go to 50hp. For the land you have and the tasks you describe, 40-45 will more than do you fine. The DK40/45SE are nice tractors and will run all the implements you will need. The problem as you have already identified is the extra cost means less implements at time of purchase however if you negotiate well, you may find the grapple is achievable. Also I agree about driving both HST and shuttle if you can so you determine what fits for you.

Thanks for the feedback guys. All good things to consider.
Yesterday I went from the ck35 in the morning to the ds40 by the time I went to bed and this morning I'm leaning towards the dk40 and postponing the grapple. Harder to add hp's or hydro than it is to add implements right? I'm way to busy at work to do any brush cutting this year any way. Thats "back burner stuff". Snow removal, Fire wood and mowwing take priority.
The other thing would be that all my current implements are sized for my 30hp Kubota. Mowwer 5", blower 6', box blade 6', rake 7', disk 6', winch should be fine. It should all be O.K. but I'd be mowwing inside my wheels a little with the ds or dk. Glad I don't have to decide today.
Thanks again.
Dan.

Go with the DK, it's a lot more rugged and you won't regret it. I went with the DK45 HST but there's not much diff between the 40 and 45. I have roughly the same acreage as you and have the same chores.

Well I tried the shuttle shift on a 45hp cub cadet and it is a lot different than the Kioti DS. Must be syncro. The dealer (4miles from me) sells Cub and Mahindra. I tried and bought a Mahindra 4035 hst. Little better price than the DK 40 account what he gave me for a trade in and he included tax. I've put 6 or 7 hours mowing and think it's great and I'm sure I would have loved the DK40. Grapple should be here tomorow or Monday. I've had a bad case of permagrin all week. :D.
Thanks every one.
Dan.

Hey, congrats on the Mahindra! My Dk is in the shop fo a head gasket and I have a loaner Mahindra shuttle shift. I have been using it to load hay, stack hay, carrry my house logs up to the building site an box blade my driveway.
Hands down fo me HST beats shuttle...I will never go back to gear or shuttle.

i agee. if had 57 acres i would be getting at least 50hp! you can always throttle back :)

Nah, the DK40 does virtually everything the DK45 and DK50 can do. Identical tractor and loader. They all run the same six or seven foot implements. The 45 and 50 are just ways for Kioti to rip off customers by charging rediculous amounts of money to use a different bore on the identical engine block.

I'd go for the 45 if I had a cab but otherwise the bang for the buck is squarely on the 40. I haven't seen anybody desribe a single task that could be done better by the 45 or 50.

Bush hogging for one, heavy ground engagement for another. Pretty sure that they offer the extra ponies for the extra power. Any place that the 40 is borderline and I am sure that there are tasks where it can be borderline, the 45 or 50 will get it done easier and faster using the same exact implement. They don't just have that power available so that they can rip off the customer. ;)
