3/4\" ratchet drive handel

attaced is a picture of an old 3/4 drive handel, look at the name and let me know if anyone ever heard of this name brand. Very heavy and made in USA. on the other side are the letters MFD 5649 could that possibly be the manufacture date?

A search of plomb on google comes up with hundreds of french sites.. It's french to me.

I love the internet.
It looks like the 5649 is just a part number. It also looks like Proto took them over in 1948. On that last link, go to links and you will see a Plomb link.

RayH , thanks for the links, mine appear to be the same only mine does not have PROTO on it anywhere.
