2710? 2910? or MF 1240

From what I've read sofar this "Board of Directors" has some great information and insight into helping individuals like me that can't seem to think of everything regarding which new tractor to buy.
Today I drove a 2910 and a Massey F 1240 both without any attachments.
Please correct any of the following statements and add any comments.
The 2910 would be easy to change ground speed while B-hogging, the MF 1240 requires shifting gears. Same when changing from foward to rev. and versa-visa.
The 2910 seat had more spring to the bounce.
Both had R4 tires
Kubota was going to install Bush Hog 2246QT loader
Massey F was going to install Massey F MF 1246 loader
Massey adjustable (link-arm) or what ever you call it had crank that made it much easier to level implements, but did not have the adjustable ends to facilitate actual hook up.
I checked the engine oil on 2910 without opening engine compartment, MF had to remove side panel.
2910 rear oil check was just a cap which I assume means you should see the oil level..???? new unit .4hrs and I did not see any oil, salesman said he would have "them" check it out.
Well, I'll probable think of a dozen other things after I post but please give me all the feed back you have time or feel inclined to do. Thanks, Norris

gotrocks, the rear oil cap on the B2910 is probably just a cap for the fill port and the dipstick to check the level is just below and in front of the right side of the seat (at least it is on the B2710). I would expect either to be a good tractor, but for $495, I'd have to go with the B2910 with HST.

I would think the Hydrostatic would be worth a fair bit of money in the price of the Kubota. I find it to be a very nice feature especially if you are planning on doing much loader work.

Would also comment that I think I would be inclined to get the Kubota FEL instead of the Bush Hog if you are considering get a midmount mower. I would think the Bush Hog FEL frame is almost certainly incompatible with a Kubota midmount mower.

Will also suggest that you check out the JD and NH offerings to that HP class. The JD 4200/4300 and TC29 (or similiar) are well worth the time to look at and test drive.

2910 hands down. I also had looked at mf, jd, nh and case.
I opted for 2910 and la402 fel. Hst very nice doing loader work.

in mho u can't beat the hst, doing loader work or brush hogging very nice to be able to keep rpms up and speed where u want. cannot imagine a tractor without hst.of course i speak of compact tractors. large farm tractors of course may be a different breed, of which i am not qualified to speak.

I have a 2910, so I can answer some of your questions. The 2910 HST will let you go from snail speed (literally), to 11.9 MPH in the high range. You will have complete control of your ground speed within that range. If you are using an attachment that requires high RPM, and low ground speed, you can't beat an HST unit, and you have the same control in reverse, just a little slower.
The 2910 has adjustable seat springs, and they will make a world of difference. Once you get it adjusted for your weight, you will have a lot more cushion than a regular seat.
I would go with the Kubota loader. I had the dealer weld 2 chain hooks on my loader, and they also installed an extra brace across the top of the loader for extra stiffening.
The 2910 has a rod that unclips from the top link. This pulls out and allows you to change the angle of your attachment by moving the rod back and forth with a built-in reversable rachet. The 2910 also has 3ph lower arm extrensions that will give you a little leeway when hooking up your 3ph implement. What you probably checked on the 2910 was the hydraulic fluid level. It is mounted in the vertical panel in front of the seat. It has a yellow dipstick. To check the engine oil, you will have to open the hood. The rear yellow cap is the hydro fluid fill cap. I bought mine less than 2 months ago, and I have over 107 hours on it. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same thing. Also if you get the Kubota MM mower, there is a step on the left side of the deck that makes it a lot easier to get on and off.

Sorry, I just made a big mistake. The ratchet is for tilting the 3ph attachment right or left. To raise or lower the front of the attachment you need to turn the screw cylinder on the top link. I keep an 8" adjustable wrench in the toolbox, and use it to change the angle, by slipping the handle end into a welded on loop on the cylinder, and using it for additional leverage. Sorry for the confusion.

Next week my authorization to post on "Owning a Kubota" is to be delivered. Yep, 2910 with LA402, 5' Howse , middle buster. I've notice several posts re: naming one's tractor.
If that is something that needs to be done I've thought about "TugBota Annie", "Tiger Tom" (Clemson Tigers, Tom Clemson). I'll stop there I don't want to get of topic too far since I'm so new to this great Board.
