2620 / 2920 quarter inching valve question

I had a salesman tell me that the valve used on the 2620 and 2920 was better at holding a set position than the one used on the 3200. He said the with the 3200 when running a brush hog that needed to be held at a constant height you would have to adjust the height as it would leak down. The valve used on the 2620 and 2920 would automatically reposition the brush hog if it leaked down. Does anyone know it this is true or not? Do any of these models reposition themselves like position control does if it leaks down?
All he had to sell was two 2920 models so i just figure that is what he was pushing.

Quartering-inching valves do not do as your dealer is saying. The 2x20 and 3200 both have the same type valves. The xx30 (2630,2930,3030) have "Position Control" for the 3PH, which does maintain a position (and also makes it easy to return to a known position).

As far as I can tell on my B2620, there is no "quarter inching". I sure wish Kubota would rethink that! Some of us actually use the 3pt. Otherwise, I think the smaller B's, and the B3200 are great tractors............... OK, being raised on small farm tractors of past generations, I would like usuable steering brakes too. I have had to use mine that way, but it "ain't" convienient!

I have a 2620, I make the quarter-inching valve set-up work, but there is nothing about it superior to a position control set-up.

Both valves have there faults and pluses. Find a different dealer!!!!!!!

My B2920 has a quarter inching valve. It was explained to me by the sales rep that it was to adjust the 3 pt attachment up or down by a quarter inch at a time. I've used it and it seems to do that fairly well.

But that's it.

That's how my B7800 worked but not my B3200.

Thanks for the help guys I bought a 2920 yesterday. Got to use it for a couple of hours today and so far i like it. I debated allot between the 2920 and the 3200. Got the 2920 because it just felt smoother than the 3200 and the quarter inching valve on it just seemed to work better.

One of the nice things I have found with the quarter inching valve is that if you push the lift/drop to the quarter inching detent and hold it, that the lift/drop will stream for the 3 point device, but at a much slower pace then if you moved the lift/drop handle outside of the quarter inch detent and just moved it to full lift/drop.

Very smooth.

I've found this very usefull with my tiller. Normally the tiller will till at the depth that the skid shoes on the tiller are set to, which can be quite deep. On my reversing tiller, it tends to push the dirt to the outside, which makes a little furrow pile of dirt on each side of the tiller channel. To smooth it, I run down the hill furrow, but with the tiller set to just a inch deep, which I can do using the quarter inching valve. That smooths out the hill of the furrow, while not creating a new one.
