Hello:

I'm new to the forums and took a test drive of the 2615G and 2615HST today with FEL's. I was all set to get a Kubota and was told about Mahindras so I decided to do some checking. I started here just reading the forums and decided that they seem to be a quality tractor and they look great. I never though I would want a gear, but after driving both and considering I will mostly be mowing decided the gear model would best suit my needs.

What should I expect to pay "cash" for a 2615G with FEL and no mid PTO, I'm from Cincinnati Ohio.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I bought mine around the first of Sept. The price was around $10,900 but they had a cash back plan in force at the time of about $400, I think.

I bought a front-end-loader and a rotary cutter with mine that bumped that price up a good bit.

I don't know what your property is like, but in my case the FEL was a great purchase. It makes the tractor much more useful.

I hope Wallace is close enough to you that he can help.

Tractor pricing varies greatly by region and season. With that in mind, here's what I got the first of August:

Mahindra 2615 4WD (gear) w/ ML106 FEL from Artec Tractor in Navou, AL (just north of Jasper) - $13,900 list, approx. $14,200 with all of the taxes and everything. Included a tank of fuel and free delivery to my home ~40 miles away.

That seems strange to me. Unless you're going to be mowing an entirely open area with no obstacles to manuever around, I would think the HST would be better suited to mowing. The gears are better suited to the operation of ground engaging implements. To each his own, though. I went with the gears because I thought they'd be cheaper to service/maintain in the long run.

Good luck,

BR

I grew up on a very, very large farm and have a lot of time on both types of tractors at this level and on a much larger level. Compared to the "old style" kubota trannies I thought for sure I would want a hydro, but after driving the gear I really liked the layout and the "ease" of shifting with the layout. My mowing area is pretty wide open so that won't be much of an issue. If I were going to be using it primarily for FEL work, I would go hydro without even thinking about it...there is no comparison.

On a side note, around the farm they've NEVER had a failure with a hydro transmission, one (full size) tractor has over 8000 hrs on it. Granted 4-5k of those are probably just running PTO stationary.

Cool. That's definitely a confidence booster for my decision to go geared. I've never spent any time on any size hydro (other than my 42" YardMan riding mower), so I didn't have the background to make the comparison like you do. Actually, having someone with your background and history considering the Mahindra brand does a lot to boost my confidence in my chosen workhorse, too. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks,

Funny thing is my dad told me I should go look at Mahindra's. That is coming form someone who just bought a Kubota cab B3030HST less than a year ago to "update" their old (1977) L245DT. The "old" bota has around 4k hrs, other than a clutch and tires has never been touched. Its had a very hard life, but they kept it around and still use it almost daily. They also have an IH 254, which was built by Mitsubisihi. It has 3k+ hrs and has never been touched, mostly mowing use.

My point is this: Kubotas are great tractors. However they are pricer than Mahindra's. I really like the looks of the Mahindra and once I found out the Mahinda's were essentiually Mitsubishi's I felt a lot better about them. Based on my experience the Mitsubisihi drivetrain it should last a very long time.

The only problem we ever had with the 254 was it tended to overheat easily when under heavy load cutting long grass unless the radiator was TOTALLY clean. The problem was the fins changed directions to many times and would plug up tight, even with the screen in front. Kubotas radiators don't plug easily. What we finally did was pull the radiator and put in a differnt kind which entirely solved the problem. Now keep in mind that the tractor was 85' model so I'm sure that was changed at some point.
