Victory! I took the advice from yesterdays post and started at ground zero. I feel like a dummy but I educated myself on the electrical system in the process. I never thought how important a good ground is. The new battery and the cleaning of the the cable connections was all it took to hear that sweet sound of a running diesel. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for letting us know what it ended up being. You might have saved someone a bunch of time who is having the same problem.

A guy traded me the 67 Chevelle for my Kioti because it had an intermittent start problem. I knew it would be simple to fix so I crawled under the car within the first 15 min of me owning it and saw they undercoated the car when they restored it and didn't have the battery ground on good metal. A wire brush fixed that problem and I never had a problem since ;)
