260z No engine sticker, how to identify

I have a 2003 260z mower. I have all this info, however, I'd like to get the spec info on the engine model cv740s. Is there a way to do this?

You mean you have no engine tag with the Kohler spec number? What info do you seek- or are you trying to narrow down the spec? Ariens CAC should know. BTW, your model number doesn't come up in the parts system.

I've got a wet plug and am waiting on a compression test my son-in-law will do for me. I suspect ordering parts for the engine may not go very well without the spec number.

What is "CAC"?

Customer Assistance Center. Manufacturer's know what they put on there. Some will reference them in the parts lists, but your model didn't come up for me. There are very few cylinder issues on a Command by the way. Wet plug meaning oil wet/ fouled most likely translates to a head gasket. Fuel wet most times ignition though there are exceptions. Like someone grabbed the diesel can More info may help us narrow down a way to go here for you.

I did, just now fill out a request for the spec number at the gravely site.

I need to let you aware of what I've been though so far.
The engine was running rough, I finally stumbled onto the fact that one spark module was not firing. I ordered the kit and a carb for the old thing. I put the spark module "kit" in and decided to do the carb at the same time. After putting it all back together, I still had issue, though, with my experience, I was a bit happy it started.
Come to find out the new spark module on the same side did not work. Note: this was one of the module "redo" kits. I got a replacement which did work. So now I have spark on both sides. The mower would now go up a slight incline. Yeah! However, I still had a backfire, weaker than it should be issue. Maybe even die on a sharp incline. So, being an older unit that I really would like to keep, I replaced fuel filters and fuel lines all the way to the gas tank and fuel pump. Still, issues.

So I took it to the local repair guy, he redid my spark gap, cleaned out the gas tank, etc and says it runs fine now, but one plug is wet, and it "pops" or backfires when shutting down. And to go futher, he'll need the spec number of the engine.
So I guess I'll go see what the damage is as he said it'd be ready today, but still with that issue.

Sorry to ramble on here.. But I really do like this mower and would really like to get it back up to par..

The repair guy just called, and for what he did, he was reasonable on the price. Though he did not do a compression test. He did verify good fire to the plugs.
The "wet" on the plug is gas!

Got it back tonight. I took both plugs out twice after running it for awhile. I don't see any "wet". Jeez..

Only symptoms I see are
Surging while running
Backfires when running at times
Backfires when throttle down reliably.
Now any then very noticeably looses power when hit a bump or up a hill.
