2538 vs 2638 pricing and options/ Decisions

So, I'm in the process of buying my 1st tractor. Was sold on the 2538 until the 2638 just came out. Depending on how much more the 2638 is, I might now go that route.

I have seen packages online ranging from $24000 (used with 80 hr) to $25500 brand new both with 5' SD brush hog, 5' box blade, and a 20' 7k trailer. Only issue is I would either have to have it shipped, or make the trip and drive about 1500 miles to pick it up.

Or I can buy a set up closer to home for appr. $24000 all things the same without the trailer though.

I am also thinking about getting another implement as the 3rd one will get me an extra $400 off for the third implement.... What one would you get as an additional implement.

Was wondering what people's thoughts were in regards to the prices on these and which route they would go.

One last thing, how much extra would you pay for a 2638 in the same package?

Sorry for all the questions, and I have inquired to my closest dealer, but as of yet haven't heard from them, been 4 days. I appreciate everyone's help and knowledge in making this purchase. Jim

I was wondering the same thing myself. My local dealer doesn't seem interested in getting the 2638 until they unload the 2538's they have. This could mean a good price if I go with a 2538 but I really would like to look at the 2638.

Do you know if there are any major, or even minor, between the two?

Dealer here is asking $22,900 for 2538 with FEL and no attachments. Don't know what they would take but they have several.

Please update us on what you do and what you find out.

Saw the new 2638 today at our closed local dealer. it had the CAB on it, but I did like the new seat and the controls being closer while in a seated position, but I guess it will depend on what premium for the added features cost as if it's worth it to me.

I have a 2538 and I have set on a 2638 and in a 2638. The seat on the 2638 is too close to the steering wheel. Mahindra is going to do something about it as it is that bad. The old seat was fine. I am ordering my 2655 today and we may have to put the old seat in it until Mahindra has a fix. The new seat is nicer and the mount for the bucket control is better placed. Price on the 2538 here two months ago was 19600. I do not know on the 2638. This of course was an open station.

Screamin - Thanks for the info on the seat. Dealer will not be getting the 2638 anytime soon but said he would order one if I chose the 2638. Will have to figure out the seat if this is the direction I head.

Are you trading in the 2538 for the 2655? If so, why?

I am. I am old. I want a cab. Not saying a need a cab, I want a cab. I need more lift mostly. The 2538 is a fine tractor. I work it hard. Already have almost 300 hours on it.
