2520 Tranny Heater

The dealer installed a transmission heater in my 2520. I noticed in the parts manual that the heater element goes through the screen where the magnet normally goes. Do I not have a magnet now, or is the heater element also magnetized? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Just wondering.

Ronster: 159 viewed ur post and no replies. Assuming u have asked the dealer and are not satisfied... I am interested because I intend to install a heater in the spring when the oil is changed. In my opinon the magnet(s) are "more" important then the strainer. On my 4100 the magnets are external on the strainer and removable (M809050) is the magnet # (gear or hydro according to my JD parts book). If you are sure the magnets are internal on your model then I too would be concerned. All this only to say that I do not take the parts manual as gospel, it is only a reference. Suggest you plague the dealer for more satisfaction.

Fred, I asked the shop dude at the dealer where I bought my 2520 and he wasn't too sure about it. I'm going to ask a different dealer about it and hopefuly he'll know a little more. Thanks for the reply Fred. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

If (big if) its the same design as used on the 4010/4115, you have the choice of removing the magnets or figuring out some way to attach them to the screen (some suggested epoxy in past posts). Elected to remove mine when putting in the heating element. BTW, when doing the 50 hour service (before installing the heater element), the magnets did have a coating of metalic paste on them.
