I have a 08 2520, and the parking brake is driving me nuts. When I apply the brakes and Lock the parking brake, it really doesn't hold much at all. I can drive without even knowing the brake is on.
Then when I finally realize the brake is left on, its **** hard to get fully disengaged. When I release it, its like I can half release it, and 2/3's release it and the lever stays out just a little and the brakes are still dragging a tad. I CAN get them totally disengaged, but you literally have to concentrate on doing it, and watch to be sure the level releases all the way.

Anyone else with a 2520 having this annoyance? Its not a big deal, but this tractor is so perfect that i just want every tiny thing to work like it should.

BTW I love this tractor, its unreal what it will do for a small tractor.

Now that you mention it - yes!

I have the exact same symptoms you describe - just never think of it when I am in front of my monitor.

I guess I just figured it to be the nature of the beast, and haven't pursued an explanation of why it works this way.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with an easy solution...?

Deadman my 07 2520 did that right from the get go. What you described is excatly what happens to me.

It sort of feels cheap and sometimes like the handle is going to break off.

Parking brake systems in cars or whatever have always seemed to fail pretty quick. It seems like this is normal for a 2520. I would not really worry about it. Atleast I have not let it bother me, I just take more caution when I use the parking brake.

Deadman , all 2520's are this way from the factory so a woman can push the peddle enough to lock the brake. but its not enough to hold the tractor very well. it is a simple fix..:) look under the tractor , follow the linkage arm from the peddle. about hafe way back there is a adjuster nut. you will see when the brake is off the linkage arm is kinda loose. loosen the two nuts on each end. there i think 13 mm nuts. screw the turn buckel about 2 turns in. make it shorter. repeat on the other side of the tractor. it may take 2 tries. first time i did it. i went to much. and could not push the peddle hard enough to lock the red brake leaver. so i backed off about one turn. and now its perfect. you will haft to push a tad harder on the peddle than you do now to lock it. but if adjusted right. not much. and no matter how steep the hill is. the tractor will not move...;) Mine works great now. as for the lever not working smooth. there are 3 10mm bolts on the left side of the black plastic lower dash peace . well there is 6 in all but you dont need to take all of them off. just the three on the left side. lift the top dash a little. part where the tach is. and pull the lower peace out a little , and shine a light in there. you will see the linkage for the red lever. spray some lithum grease or even WD 40 will work or any kind of lube. then work the lever a bit. and it will be as smooth as the cruse control lever then. and brakes will go on and off better. fold the lower dash back under the top peace. and put the bolts back in. you will see the groove it fits in. and you will be set.:) if you have any trouble. just PM me. and i will help you out.

Chris.....:)

Wow good to hear about the adjustment the other part seems like a bit.

I guess I have just been way to busy actually using my machine to figure out the lever not being so smooth and the required action to fix it.

Yeah same here. I've been running mine every chance I get. I looked and saw the brakes were adjustable, but didn't make any adjustment fearing it might go the wrong way. (and make me end my next day early!)

When you try pulling on something and locking the brake with tension on a rope, you get really unhappy seeing the tractor creek with the brakes locked!

Deadman, totally agree with you. Some of us actually use our machines everyday. Some of us wash and mod them all day.

Different strokes for different folks.
