I was wondering if it was possible to convert a 2520's headlights to HID lights ( High intensity Discharge) Then blue looking ones or either like Green ons like the color of the tractor. any suggestions are welcome.

Most of the "HID" bulbs are just standard bulbs painted blue or purple (meaning less light to work with). You can take a bulb to your local auto store and see if it's comparable to a standard bulb, but the part number listed is a Deere-specific part. You'd also have a similar effect by trying to find tinted window film for the headlight assembly.

It sounds like you just want this for aesthetic reasons rather than functional ones, but if you actually want a functional upgrade anything beyond 4300-6000K is not a good idea since it's outside the color of light you're eyes are designed to be used with. If you want more light where you need it, look into ROPS-mounted aux lights. Personally I've yet to use the lights for anything other than to use the flashers when I'm close to the road, but I also haven't had to dig out from a snowstorm in the middle of the night yet.

Hey, you know you can get those lights at Advanced Auto and the auto parts stores of that ilk. I at one point wanted to get some higher output light for my rops mounted flashers. Did not give much though on the Headlamps yet. I did upgrade to higher watt bulbs on my 4100 though, but it was a small mod, but it did give mma noticeable increase in light on those cold morning before sunrise in the snow!

I'm assuming that since you specified "high intensity discharge" you are actually looking for a true HID light and not a look-alike for "show" purposes.

If thats the case there are a couple options for you. Deere makes a true HID light as as option on their larger machines, I'm pretty sure this could be adapted to your machine if you added some mounts on your ROPS better check with the dealer though. I think these lights require an external ballast box so there may be some issues with mounting that due to the space required.

A better option may be to use a light from HELLA such as the AS300 or 400 (Hella part # 996242501 12V) that has a built in ballast and is about the size of a standard work light mounted on your ROPS or perhaps fender.

CAT also makes HID work lights. Theres some good pics there of the difference between light output of halogen and HID too.

True HID isn't just a coloured bulb as some think it makes a big difference, lots more light and a much longer service interval. Ive installed lots of them on off road equipment, especially woods equipment.

One last option would be to check what kind of bulbs are actually in your headlights (H4 etc) and check on Ebay. There are aftermarket conversion kits available for some types of headlights that may be useable in your factory ones.

Any of these options, except the last one, isn't going to be cheap though. HID is $$$, better count on at least $500-1000 per set.

might be easier to find yellow colored replacements--they would still match ;-)
