Just for the picture whor- I mean fans :)

I just got the tractor back from a spring service and I had them add a brush guard. A bit more of an aggressive look and it will hopefully protect the hood a bit from the branches that keep running out in front of me.

Did it not come with your loader?

Nope, nor did I get (or pay for) a ballast box since I bought the tiller at the same time.

When you "build your tractor" on the Deere website, the brush guard is figured in the price. The ballast box is extra. I would check back with the dealer. How much did he charge you for it? JC

The price was <$200 (maybe around $175, I don't have the paperwork on me) and installation was thrown in with the service I had done.

I can't say for sure whether it was discussed at purchase time (I was excited enough I may have turned down the hood guard in a fit of ignorance thinking it was extra), given the discount I got with the initial purchase I'm not too concerned about whether dropping the guard bought me an extra $200 of discount or if it got lost in the shuffle. Total money out vs. total toys in still makes me a happy camper with the dealer (not to mention friendly service), but I'll bring it up when I order a box blade and rotary cutter later on.

The guard looks great. I have the same setup with out the industrial tires. Yours look meaner.

A word of caution. The hood guard isn't compatable with the front attachments, like the blower, blade or sweeper. The bracket for these attachemts bolts onto the same surface. I complained to my dealer and although they agreed that I shouldn't have to remove the hood guard, JD offered no answer.

After they did some digging, they found that the the bottom part of the 4110 hood guard would be compatable. However, that hood guard doesn't fold over to allow you to open the hood as it does on the 2520. In a rare bit of luck, the folding portion of the 2520 hood guard bolts right onto the lower portion of the 4110 hood guard.

The dealer did it as a "Warranty Repair" for me a no cost. It all works well now and looks good to. Kudos to the dealer for figuring this out!
