Perhaps someone with first hand experience can help.

Looking for someone with first hand experience using a brush hog with there 2516. What size cutter can safely be used with this tractor?

Approximate weight is around 2900lbs with loader and filled tires. Some say never use a 5ft. Rotary cutter and some say they would. A 4ft would not cut the width of the tire tracks(54.3)

I've seen only one made by woods that is 54in width of cut, it's an HC54 heritage model. Has anyone used this cutter?

Thanks

I have a 2516 and have a 6 foot finish mower and 5 foot brush hog. The finish mower is almost too much, but with sharp blades and regular cutting it works well. The brush hog works just fine. Just don't try to push it too fast. Wet grass vs dry grass makes a big difference.
Hope that helps.

Oh almost forgot....I had to front suitcase weights since I mow without the loader attached. The bracket was there from the factory, so I just added the 4 40 pound weights to offset the rear weight. That has been the only consideration.

I have a 2415 that is the same tractor. I use a 5' bush hog and finish mower on mine with no problems at all. 6' is not feasible unless its only occasional use.

I use a 4' BH with my 2015 and it cuts everything I have tried. I think it would run a 5' BH unless it was thick grass.
Your tractor should handle a compact 5' BH just fine

Thanks for the replys, I'm thinking about ordering a Fred Cain 4ft agri cutter. I do believe I could use a five footer but not sure if I could utilize it for heavier cutting. I have a bunch of sumac that needs to be cut back every few years.

I have a 25 HP Kubota and it hates my 5' BH. I like to use my smaller Kubota to BH, because I don't have to remove the FEL from my 3316. I am going to buy a 4 footer this week.

The Fred Cain 4ft cutter is 500lbs, is that considered medium or heavy duty?
