I don't see why you should not be able to change this out, as long as the air outlet of the housing matches the air inlet for the tractor, and you can hose clamp them together, and you have the room under the hood in theory you should be able to replace it with any dual stage air filter setup and honestly i never understood why they went to a single stage for that model anyway in my opinion any tractor that size should run dual stage air filters, its just better protection for the engine is my thought on it.

Aren't both filter housings the same? Should be a matter of getting the inside filter and put it on? It's a Donaldson air filter setup.
Mine came with just the outer filter as well. My dealer mechanic advised me to get a inner one. Pretty much 500 hours later, the inner one is still brand new.

Same here. At the first day i added an inner element and change both of them at the same time according to schedule. Cheap insurance
