I have a 2320 with a 62d drive over deck, since I have had the tractor about 9 months now, I seem to be unable to adjust the finite mower deck cutting height, this is the black knob located between your legs) that is supposed to let you adjust the mower deck height in finer increments. I don't think this has ever worked correctly.....:( My deck also started to make a noise, it only has about 29 hours on it. I took it off, regreased all the spindles, checked the belt for tears and thought it might fix the situation, but the noise seems to be getting worse. Has anyone ever had this type of problem? I assume the bearing is replaceable. Its still on warantee, but I am interested if anyone else has had this type of problem.:D

I have pretty much given up on using the control knob to control the height very well.. On my deck the difference between lock and ~3" mowing height (lower than I want to go) is only 3 stops apart.. it goes from locked, to ~3.5", and then to ~3" one after another. This leaves 80% of the adjustment knob unusable..

I ended up just using the 3pt lever to control the height after measuring to find a height i wanted. I like to keep my grass pretty tall during the summer and the locked position was too high and the first 'stop' was lower than i wanted.

I am not sure on the noise issue you are having.. Could be a spindle or have you checked to make sure no trash/junk accumulated around the spindles? if you will take the deck off, check to see if you have any wobble on the blades.. There should not be any play side to side..

I've got the same tractor and deck as you. I had mine for 2 or is it 3 years now and have used the heck out of the tractor! Lets see if I can answer or at least reply to your questions or concerns, and add a few concerns of my own!..

"I seem to be unable to adjust the finite mower deck cutting height, this is the black knob located between your legs)"

I found that knob to be very stiff to adjust also. I oiled it once and it helped, but soon afterwords it was back to being stiff. My wife can't turn the darn thing using two hands! I do know the following: The deck must be in the full up position before moving the knob. The adjuster is nothing more than a step gear. You can adjust the deck probably 4 or 5 positions, but in my opinion it is not a fine adjuster. I set mine on one notch greater than the high position for cutting our 5 acres. That is probably around 4 inches or so.

I also found the glued on decal showing the knob setting was glued down in the wrong position on mine. I never could figure out how to lock the deck up because of the error in the decal. I have since then repositioned the decal correctly. Locking the deck up is a nice feature when using the 3 pt hitch on the rear of the tractor.

My deck is usually very quiet for 3 spinning blades unless I have a stick or rock jammed under one of the pulleys! Been there done that. The rock was hard to find and about drove me nuts. The deck does have two(?) idler pulleys that are not grease-able. One of these may be the culprit. The transmission on my deck went south at about the same number of hours as yours. No noise other than a "Blam....screeeeeach...and stalled engine". (these were my wifes words to me as I was 1000 miles away working when she called with the news that something was wrong with MY TRACTOR!

Now for my concern. I have had to adjust (like a chiropractor) the steel deck on two occasions in the last two years. JD was no help saying I must have hit something and warped the deck. Suddenly two of the blades will start to hit each other with a ding, ding, ding occurring at odd times. Seems like the deck warps at the spindle located at the discharge side of the deck bends for some reason pushing that blade into the center blade. I have made a device that "pops" the deck back where the spindle in bolted down back into alignment. I suspect driving over the deck sometimes pops the metal out of alignment. The bent or popped area is just under one of the drive over ramps.

Next concern is the 2 metal bars or support pieces welded under the deck. It traps grass which is impossible to get out short of using needle nose pilers to pull it out. On my deck it is showing signs of rust there.

My wife just reported one of the wheels on the rear of the deck broke. She said the "bolt that holds the wheel on broke and I lost the wheely thing". She found the "wheely thing", or I should say one of the blades found the "wheely thing" the last time she mowed. Next time I come home I guess I will have to replace her "wheely thing".

Hope this helped in some small way. Good luck!!!!

I have had my deck back to the dealer twice and it still doesn't work properly. The deck leaks down and the control knob hasn't worked for more than a couple of days before crapping out. I am sure regretting I didn't get another Kubota.

From my little time on this forum it seems that people with the riding mowers have much less trouble than the 2000 series tractors with mmm's. I use an L130 with 48" deck that uses a manual lift with zero deck problems for four years. If I need something bigger I use the MX6 for now and would choose a rfm over an mmm for finish mowing from what I read here.

On my 2320 with 62D deck I found that the decal was correctly positioned, its just that to get it into the lock position you have to lift the deck higher than it can go with just the 3 point hitch. I was thinking it was just to get the lift arms out of the way when the mower was not attached.

I noticed that too.

that darn knob! ...
regardless of decal position the "lock" position in my experience can depend on if the horizontal link is correctly adjusted, that being that darn "bendable" rod running from the 3 Pt to the lift, the one that bends if adjusted incorrectly... (ahem) If the rod is adjusted to the correct length you should feel the knob hit a stop at the lock position. Rod too long and the detent misses and the knob rotates all the way around, too short and you don't get maximum height when you "lock" it.

Dale,
did you check the mower deck gearbox oil while you checked
the belt etc? You could have a gearbox going bad, but
some are louder than others.
If you end up back with the dealer, have them double check
the deck setup as others mentioned, verify all components all
work and the adjusting dial works freely. The deck does
have to be up to turn the dial.

good luck

There is actually an adjustment on the tractor's hydraulics for this. I wouldn't recommend doing it at home because if you get too aggressive something may break but it is a upstop limiter. Mine was out of adjustment and it took abt 2 1/2 turns on the limiter nut to get it to work perfect. The MMM adjuster will now spin all the way around like it is supposed to. It should rotate completely or it will never lock the deck up properly which is to say the deck should barely move from the full up position not the inch or so alot of people are having. I checked at the dealer abt this and that is what the service manager told me as mine rotated completly when we first got it and after a winter of moving snow for some reason would not rotate completly anymore.
