Greetings everyone...Long time reader, but my first post.

Great site, lots of of info...couldn't have done it without ya!

Have a new 2310 which is about a week old. Got the 60 in front blade with it and just getting to attaching it.

Question is about the Female quick hitch part that attaches to the tractor frame. The top lip goes over the front frame and then underneath there is a block/wedge that is hand tightened to secure it to the bottom lip of the front frame. The hitch runs down and back under the frame a good foot or so...I suspect this is for other front attachments?? Anyhow, it seems like there should be some other mounting pin(s) or something to secrure it back there.

Seems secure as is, but if I was doing some grading using downpressure and backdragging...seems like the hand cranked wedge needs a little more support. Only have a smaller Garden Tractor to compare this fella too and the front mount on that is much more secure.

Manual I got with the blade only covers the blade, not the quick hitch. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long winded and newbie question!

You described the attachment well. That's all there is. The shaft thru the quick connect is used to transmit power to front mounted accessories like snow blowers. A long driveshaft connects the mid-pto shaft (next to the hydro filter) with the rear of the splined shaft that runs thru the quick connect.

Yep, that's all there is. DEWFPO & I have been through this a few times..:D

What would be a good idea is to put a cover over the male splined shaft in the rear-- I found, after asking at an auto parts store, that there IS such a thing as 1" heater hose (everything I'd ever seen was 3/4"), which fits beautifully over the 25mm splined shaft; the end cap is a cover from a can of spray window cleaner, jammed on & spotted with a few drops of thin super-glue (hobby shop item). Crude, but effective.

Also, I do NOT trust "hand-tightening" the T-handle on the metal plate bolt-- I tap it several times with a small hammer to be sure it's secure. (No way to gauge torque with that T-handle.) If you look closely, I believe you'll see that most of the stress on the attachment is carried by the hooks that the whole thing hangs on where it attaches to the front of the frame--the "bumper" in the manual.

I even asked my dealer if they had caps to go over the splines sections of the quick connect and mid-pto shaft when not in use, surprisingly, their answer was no.

Husky Driver-- as an aside, the front portion of the quick-hitch driveshaft is removable, with a quick-release sleeve. It's WAY in the back, but once pulled forward, the "square" shaft piece will pull off-- (I'm making the assumption here that, even though the plow you got doesn't need it, the quick-hitch assembly came with it.)

A good thing to put over the male splined part is a section of radiator hose. You can measure the diameter and go to your local auto parts dealer. Get the hose a little smaller than the shaft so that it will stay on. Put a little grease on the inside of the hose.

Thanks for that guys. Seemed a little too simple to setup :D

One day I might go with another front attachement (drooling over the snowblower).

The quick hitch did NOT come with the spline setup (shown in the pictures below). Now I'm thinking it should have???

Huskydriver-- sounds like, since the plow doesn't need a driveshaft they just left the drive stuff off, most likely to keep the price down.

I know a good part of the relatively high price for the blower was due to the drive system "extension" from the mid-PTO to the rear of the quick-hitch, and the adapter shaft & bearings for the front-mounted items that require it (blower, rotary broom). You could call your dealer and ask about the blower- I suppose they'll ask (or know) that you'll need the driveshaft items to be mounted into your quick-hitch....

Alright, puts me at ease knowing that they have the flexability to order it that way, still don't know if they were giving me the shaft (or not)...however you look at it.

One thing that seems near impossible to find is a common price list for hardware. I maintain a Sears GT (Husqvarna actually), and even though their stuff seems pricy... it is out there in the open. To get a price on anything for a MF unit requires a call to the dealer. Odd.

The blade (60" w/Hyro angle) was sold to me for $1890. Wasn't aware that the hitch was a seperate piece until I went to install.
