I think I may be able to "retire" in 5 years and then work myself to a frazzle on my two places. I am trying to get all of my toys bought now for obvious reasons and am thinking of adding another tractor. I have a 5203 which is working out really great for me but would like a smaller tractor for mowing under my oaks and getting into tight spaces where my 5203 won't fit. Being in the west edge of the Texas Hill Country with about 25 inches of annual rainfall, I doubt I would mow most of the place more than once a year--maybe 60 acres at most--mainly to reduce fire hazard. I would mow the open spaces with the 5203 and get under the oaks with the smaller tractor so the little one would probably see maybe 30 acres once or twice a year.

Anyhow, was thinking of the 2305 but like the 790. The 790 although a lot smaller than the 03 seems like it might be duplicating what I already own. I doubt I would even need the FEL for the little tractor and would want a MMM. Would probably make me a little trailer also to carry out rocks--seems like the 2305 should tow a ton or a ton and a half with no problem.

Also, I am in the process of getting my Dad's old 1850 Oliver running so I will have a 92 horse tractor available on the "top" end.

Any thoughts, experiences you all might have would be appreciated.

Thanks much.

i previously had a jd2210 that i mowed 7 acres in the hill country with. very capable with 62c mmm around trees. 30 acres is an awful lot of mowing though. not too much for the 2305 but would be time consuming. if primary use is mowing around trees it has to be mmm (IMHO) and wider than the tractor by as much as possible. i'm using a 72" on a b3030 now. turn radius on 2305 in 2wd is an definate advantage. i lked mine fine.......... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just from the standpoint of numerology, the 2305 is the match for the 5203, unless of course they make a 3502 also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Both the 2210 (and assume the 2305) and 4010 ROPS heights are virtually the same, and they're essentially the same weights and widths. The advantage for the 4010 is that is has more height underneath, and its oil cooler is up in front of the radiator and out of the way. The cooler on the 2210 was underneath. The 2210 has a MMM height selector that the 4010 doesn't have.

Just some thoughts. Love my 4010 and have a carryall on it that would be a pretty good rock hauler; its FEL is better though. Haven't used it for the MMM.
