rvtech:
I am glad to here that the backhoe is finally mounted. It has been a long arduous journey for you with this implement. The pics are really nice, so is the shop and the greenery. It makes me want one, but would have absolutely no use on my sand pile.

Not much good on my snow pile right now either, but I'm having a big time just running it to show everyone that stops by. They all think its cool. Even the finance manager /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was so busy looking at the BH that I completely missed that Class A in the background. What's the length of it? It kind of dwarfs the 2305 when you really look at the background.

That's my 34' rental unit. It barely fits in a 40' space.

I was guessing close to 40 feet. She's a real nice looking RV and that's an excellent storage facility you have. Is that Diesel or Gas powered?

My Class C is gas powered (V10) and I wished it was available in a Diesel package. It seems near impossible to get a Diesel powered Class C.

We only use gas for rentals. The problem with a diesel in a C is the weight of the engine brings it close to the limit on GVCW. There isn't much capacity left. Most C's only have a diesel available in the smaller models. The 29' double slides and 31' slides are over their capacity before loaded.

The V-10 is a great package. We've been running a bunch of those since 1997. The newest version in a Class A is 362 horsepower /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the clarification on why most Class C's are gas powered. I never thought about the combined weight being an issue.

Will you be able to use that BH any during the winter, or is it going to wait till spring thaw to get a workout? Did the addition setup for the seat raise you up close to hitting your head on the ROPS? I assume also, that you have to rotate the seat before you climb in to use the BH.

I dug a little inside one of my buildings today. I need to install a floor drain before preparing for concrete. Our temperature today is about 15 degrees. We were at -2 degrees last night so the ground is frozen even inside this building. I was able to get down about a foot in 5 minutes. Basically just a waste of time, but I want to try it.

The seat does go up then rotate. It may be slightly higher in the normal position too since the bracket is now taller. I didn't notice any difference while plowing snow today. It is comfortable in the backhoe position as well. I'm very satisfied to this point with fit, on/off, and overall quality. The one thing I really don't know about is the most important part: Digging ability.

What a great piece of equipment. Can I ask a couple of questions. I had heard that the JD smaller machines didnt have enough steel in them to put on a BH? was this sour grapes as at the time as there wasnt one for JD? I certainly need to use one at some point ,but at the moment there is probably a week's work there. is a purchase justifable?
What kind of learning curve is involved in using in bankhoe?

Thanks

I really don't know the answer to any of those questions. I'm not a person that abuses equipment so I don't think I will have a problem. One of my concerns with the 2305 is possibly not enough hydraulic pressure to run the backhoe. I have not used the backhoe enough to be able to tell you about the learning curve. I have enough projects that I feel the purchase was justified. I think the resale will be pretty strong on the backhoe, even if I decide to sell it without the tractor. I would have rented one if it was just for one project. I don't like to rent tools or equipment when I have so many things to do mainly because of the time factor. I always feel rushed to get done when renting.

I have a 2210 with the woods hoe. The pressure and flow are good. Most movements are best operated one at a time, but the speed is good for the size of hoe. The controls are somewhat easy to learn and with practice you'll have it down quickly. Second time at the controls, I dug two ditches for drain pipe, each ditch was about 10' long, 30" deep, 12" wide. It took about 45 minutes to dig both. Certainly a time and lower back saver over a shovel. I have about 10 projects planned for the hoe (more with neighbors/friends requests).

I'm glad to hear that. I noticed movement seems good using 1 control at a time. What RPM do you run at? It seems to move quickly even just above idle.

Usually 2500. As needed I'll feather the controls to reduce the boom or swing speed.

What are the part number(s) to the seat swivel bracket(s)? I may install that part on my 2210. Currently I have two seats, one for the tractor and one for the hoe.
