1 week ago, I was crossing the field after filling up my 2305 with diesel. I hit a bump, and it died. Initially, it would only start 1 out of 10 times and only run a few seconds. The starter turns fine, and battery is good. I have emptied and cleaned the sediment bowl, changed the filter, and siphoned out the fuel from the tank. I do not know how to clear the fuel lines, as others on previous posts have done. After cleaning out bowl and changing filter, it will start great, but only run 10 sec or less. After about 5 seconds, the fuel level starts to fall in the sediment bowl. Once the level hits the bottom of the filter, the engine dies. I have to wait for the bowl to refill with fuel before I can restart. Once again, the level falls 10 sec after starting up. To me, I think there is something in the tank that dislodged when I hit the bump and partially clogged the fuel line. If so, how do I clear the lines from the tank to the filter.

I am having a problem with my 2305 too- this was actually the first thing i tried on mine. If the cup is not filling properly than you are correct that you have to look for an obstruction between the tank and the cup. I used a hand pump siphon that i use for my kerosene heater to get most of the fuel from the tank. Then I shut off the valve feeding the fuel cup, removed the cup and took out the filter, water ring, and spring and set them aside. I then pushed the cup up against the cup holder and drained the fuel into that, emptying it as needed. I had no obstruction to clear so that is as far as i had to go, but I found alot of information online pertaining to using a flashlight to check the tank for obstructions. The guy I bought my tractor off of said it was in for the same reason a few years ago because a stinkbug had blocked the inlet. As for your case, most people seem to use compressed air to blow the line clear and then look through the fill hole in the tank for any debris. To do that you wulod have to remove the fuel line that comes through the firewall into the side of the sediment cup housing and blow out the obstruction from there.

Thanks for all the great info. I hope this can help others, too. I cleared as much as I could, then ended up taking it in to my JD today. They found a SPIDER inside the filter assembly. Runs great now. I remember seeing another post sometime talking about a spider blockage, too. Any way to prevent this from happening again?

Best I can figure is to always keep your cap on your fuel tank(don't take it off and walk away for a few minutes) and use a plastic funnel with a plastic screen to fill your tank. The stink bug issue I spoke of was apparently due to the bug crawling into the flexible tube on a fuel can that the guy was storing in a shed, without the cap on the end. The bug apparently crawled in, died, and being unaware just passed it into the fuel tank.
