I have got prices (before taxes) for the following 2305 setup from two dealerships in southeastern PA (about 10 miles from my home):

2305 tractor (List $10,750)
Freight (List $123)
Cruise control (List $125)
62" Mower (List $1,700)
Freight (List $47)
Mower Attachments - mechanical lift (List $220)
200CX loader (List $2,740)
Freight (List $37)
Front lights kit (List $67)
Warning light brush guard ($32)

Total List $15,841

I did not get an engine block heater ($45), engine collant heater ($125), ballast box (List $197), independent lift ($360) or I-match (List 244). Just the items above (trying to keep the price as low as possible). I have weights that I can put on the draw bar for ballast.

Dealer #1 - added $1,200 for John Deere Maintenace Plan Plus (Oil and fluid changes for two years, some additional warranty items). I opted out of this. Asking price dealer #1 - $15,200
Asking price dealer #1 for repo tractor as above with canopy - $13,995

Dealer #2 - added $490 for setup and predelivery.
Asking price dealer #2 - $15,050

Both of these prices seem high (less than a 4% discount) from what I've seen on this site. I would be interested in knowing what members have paid (before taxes) for similar 2305 purchases (Particularly in the southern PA, northern MD and northern DE area).

Thanks for your input.

I would seriously consider the ballast box, or at least get an implement such as a boxblade. These sub-CUT's need all the weight they can get. I know I have my 2210's tires loaded (220#) and whenever I do any real work, I put the ballast box on (filled with concrete). Remember, shiny side up!

Can't help you with PA prices, but here's a recent (July 2006) purchase in MN:

Jd2305 with turf tires
62" MMM - no independent lift (works with 3-point hitch control)
200CX Loader with 53" bucket
4020 Ballast Box
iMatch hitch
Warning light brush guards

List = ~$15,750
Purchase = $13,780

This included all the freight, setup and delivery to my door. This did not include MN state tax. This reflects ~12.5% discount. Could have I done better? Maybe, but I was happy with the price and happy with the service. It wasn't a struggle to get to this price with the dealer.

Advice - get the ballast box - you'll want several hundred pounds in it for any significant loader work - don't know how you would get that on the drawbar. Also, move your ROPS warning lights to the inside of the ROPS. It's easy to do (plugs in under rear fender) - switch sides so that they keep their orientation when looking at them from the rear.

Good Luck!

Scott

Thanks for the input.

Is there anyone from the Mid-Atlantic area that has any input on this? I would be interested in what others are paying for the 2305 in the southern PA area.

Thanks.

Ok, once again. . . .
You want the best price on a JD tractor you can possibly get? Pay attention:

Contact every single JD dealer within a 50 mile (or more) radius of your location.
Tell them EXACTLY what you want. Tell them you want their absolute best price DELIVERED and ready to go. Don't let them ad things or take things off. You should know what you want and insist on it.
Once you have all the prices lined up, call every dealer again except the one with the best price, and give them the best price you got minus a few percentage points. After they all get back to you, call them all again with the best price. . . keep doing this until you have the absolute best price anyone is going to give you. . . be persistent and badger them!
It's always good to know the dealers you are working with to some degree. Develop a rapor with them. These are usually good ol boys. . . act like one.
Once you have done all this, you will have the best price available in your area. . . and really, that's all that matters.
BTW: You might want to wait another 6-8 weeks before buying. The end of the year is a GREAT time to buy.

Thanks.

Here's a quote I got in August:

2305...$9625
200cx loader...$2329
62C MMM...$1690
Total...$13644

Here's another quote in August:

2305...$10467
200cx loader...$2885
62C MMM...$2084
Total...$15436

Diff...$1792

Dealers located in Waynesboro and Hanover, PA....quite a difference for 2 dealers that are not that far apart geographically. It may pay off to really shop around.
