2305 Folding ROP....Help

Does anyone know of an after-market folding ROP for my 2305? Talked to my dealer yesterday, and was told that there is nothing in the works from JD to accomodate this request. I'm not getting a taller garage anytime soon, and was considering taking original ROP to a local machine shop to have it either "chopped down", or a hinge fabricated. Any advise would be helpful. And yes, my ROP was removed and now sits in my basement. Thanks!

femco has a folding ROPS for the 2210, which im pretty sure will fit the 2305.. I am not sure of the cost, but I wish JD would offer it as an option.

There are negatives to modifing the ROPS, but if you can buy the same hinges that are used by the mfg, why couldnt it be done..

Hi:

I bought my 2305 from the dealer including a folding ROPS. It is a Femco one for a 2210. I think it's 2-300 bucks if you buy one. I put it on myself as the dealer didn't have one when he delivered my tractor so he dropped it off, I installed it and brought back the original one. Fits fine, even fits all the JD lights, etc. Wasn't bad but have a big wrench ready for those high torque bolts. Ironically I don't really need it now. I originally wanted one so it would fit in my enclosed snowmobiile trailer. But after deciding even though weight wise it would fit, I'd need to re-inforce the ramp door and floor I ended up buying a flatbed.

It is nice though to avoid the trees the first few 'laps' of mowing the lawn.

The stock one does look a little beefier since it has a front gusset but I think the folding one is fine.

hey there, couldn't you go to the dealer, take some pic's of a folding rops, do some measuring, and then have the local machine shop fabricate the hindges just like the ones on folding rops? just an idea, hopefully it will help! good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Some mfg has to sell the tractor mfg's the hinges used for the folding rops.. It would make life easier i bet if you could find a set of hinges and then just have the machine shop do the work for you..
