My mower deck at the highest setting still cuts grass too low. Is there an adjustment somewhere. From the decks highest position, when I drop deck it lowers about 1" or so...but the grass is cut too short. What length of grass do you think should be left with the deck adjustment set at H........

I did an experiment with my deck.

Take the wheels on the deck all the way up.. and out of the way.

Set the cut height to it's minimum setting and set the deck down.. it should be about 2 inches off the ground.. mine slammed into the asphalt so I KNEW it was out of adjustment.

There are two clevis (?) pins on the lifting arms that are adjustable, and the bar that controls the lifting arms is also adjustable (it's between the left tire and the frame of the tractor.

When you make your adustments bring the deck up and check the lifting arms aren't contacting the lifting arm stops (if you lower and raise the deck, and look at the lifting arms I think you'll see what I am talking about). I adjusted the clevis pins (don't know if that is the right term or not) as much as I could, then adjusted the bar on the left side of the tractor to give me more adjustment room.

FINAL thing to do is pull the deck up, and make sure the adjustment dial still turns through 360 degrees.

I increased my cutting height form a max of about 2.5 inches to a little over 4.

And at the highest setting it's SUPPOSED be 4.5 inches.. mine wasn't even close.

This is a picture of the adjustable hangers.. EASY to adjust, just make sure when the deck is up that the bars don't touch the lift bar stop.. The black looking cylinder in front of the adjusters.

If you've topped out the adjustment here, you can adjust the length of the bar that's you can see to the right in the picture.. it controls the 'throw' of the lift bars, and will give you more room to move the lift bars up without touching the stops.

When you are done adjusting, make sure you can turn the adjustment dial through 360 degrees. If you can't, readjust the 'bar' not the hangers.

I can cut with all four wheels only showing one hole, and I can fit my fingers underneath each wheel when on a flat surface.

In this picture I'd say the lift arms are set REAL low.. too low.. I'm sure if you were to set your cut height to the minimum it would bounce the deck off of the ground.

Oh., also there is one of these lift bar adjusters on each side.

Pull the cotter pin out, the pin removes to the inside, and you can turn the adjuster up or down. Make sure you keep track of how many turns you make on one side and repeat the same number on the other.

After you get your adjustments done here, check the deck for level front to back. You'll probably have to adjust the front of the deck by tightening the bolts on the front deck carrier (underneath the front of the tractor, you can tighten or loosen the nuts on the 'U' carrier to adjust the height of the front of the deck).

I have the independent lift and I have tried and the dealer has tried and we cannot get the mower to cut any higher than appx 3 to 3 1/4 inches at the highest setting.
So when I have my dial set for the highest setting appx 5" my cuts at 3 1/4"
Plus I have noticed as I lift the deck the knob on floor when move just a little bit I do not remember the 2210 with mmm doing this

I would say at this point you'd be relegated to buying bigger tires.

My BX23s highest knob setting is 4 inches.
When the MMM is lowered to that position it leaves the grass 4 inches tall.
When the MMM is fully rased it mows about 6 inches high no matter what setting the knob is at.

I don't know how JD and 2305 tractors Mid Mount Mowers work.

Have you tried mowing with the mower fully lifted to see how that works when the knob is in various positions?

Mower deck raises to the same height no matter what the knob is set at. That would be the 'locked' position.
