Oil & Fuel 2305 break in and oil change

I just went to the JD site and looked in the owners manual. Recommended engine oil and filter change on the 3x20 series is at 50 hours and then every 200 hours. Change hydrostat oil and filter at 400 hours.

I think what must have happened is that JD changed to 50 hours in the new literature. My tractor is only a few weeks old.

You can go to their site and see what each tractor now recommends which I gather is what the new data on the 3x20 shows.

Rob-D...I've been looking at Amsoil too, I'm even thinking of using the Amsoil Synthetic Hydro Tractor Oil, Amsoil Synthetic Gear Oil, and Amsoil Synthetic Grease. And no, I'm not a salesman for Amsoil (yet...), but I sure like the thought of one stop shopping for all my Synthetic Lubricants. I'm currently running Mobil 1 in my 06 Ram and my new Generac Generator (Synthetic 5W-30 per the owners manual) and Castrol Syntec in my Bombardier Outlander ATV. I've been very happy with Synthetics in all of those applications so far.

I just did the same thing. I ordered the Amsoil HD synthetic for my engine and their hydrolic/xmission fluid too. I'll also run it in my diesel generator.

I'm running Mobil 1, 5W-30 synthetic in my car because it is easy to get locally. They don't make a synthetic diesel oil that fits Deere's viscosity criteria.

Amsoil and Mobil 1 have been battling it out for years now. Personally I think they are so close that it would be hard to see any significant difference over time.

The one in depth report I did read showed Amsoil's viscosity did go up once it ran in an engine over about 15k miles or so if I remember.

After 100-hours, I do use AMSOIL 15-40 in the engine and AMSOIL in the tranny. I do believe the tranny is much smoother (my neighbor has an identical 2210 and has commented on a number of occassions that my machine responses quickly and quiter) and does respond well in cold conditions.
