Hi all:

Anyone know how to adjust brakes on a 2009 2305 CUT?

Adjusting the brakes is discussed in the ops manual as a solution if the rear wheels will not stop, but the adjustment procedure is not in the ops manual.

Before I bought the tractor everything I have read about wet disc brackes implies longer life and less adjustment than dry disc brakes. The sales literature for the X749 and 2305 Tuff Torq differentials states "No Service Required - Discs are self adjusting".

My Selling Dealer's service man(ager?) said I could get a service manual for $48.50 (CD) or $98.10 (Paper) and adjust them myself.

There are 57 hours on the tractor. I have many hills, but rarely press the brake pedal. The HST doesn't require much brake use. I always use the parking brake when stopped per the ops manual.

Do you folks think this is normal 2305 behavior?

Thanks in advance!

What "behavior" are you talking about ?

The only adjustments that I can see are in the linkage (see larger rectangle in bottom of attached pic, specifically parts # 34, 35, 36, 37 + 38.)

I second Will's question. What behaviour are you asking about?

Sounds like you may be experiencing some slide when going downhill. If one tire breaks loose (loses traction), then you will experience the result that brakes don't mean much.
More weight on your rear tractor tires is needed, but being careful to avoid those steep spots is also prudent. Going downhill with the FEL and a load can cause/result in the same experience of sliding uncontrolled. Being in 4wd will help, but only to a degree.

More information is needed from you, to help with your dilema. :)

Hi folks:

W-O-W! I think this gives me everything I need... except the mechanical ability. As a Engineer-by-day I am a **** of a technician/mechanic on paper. Actually turning the wrenches is another matter. :confused2:

The tractor is not losing traction. Fully depressing the brake pedal on dry level asphalt from low-middle low-range forward or reverse speed doesn't stop the machine. Pressing the HST reverse pedal stops and reverses the machine when the brake pedal doesn't.

It is as-if the pedal does not go far enough to engage the brake completely. The parking brake, which only holds the pedal at about 80% of it's complete travel, doesn't work at all.

I think the procedures depicted herein will resolve my problem. I just have to decide if I want to undertake it myself or hire someone more qualified to do it.

Thanks VERY MUCH!

With only 57 hours on the 2305 I would guess something is broken or missing. I would be suprised if adjusting the brake linkage will fix your problem.

Keep us updated on your progress.

57 hours, 2009 model, brakes not working...........shouldn't that still be under warranty?
