2305, 54 MMM RPM

I run my 54" MMM at about 2000-2500 RMP's. Mostly in the 2000-2200 range. It seems as if I never need to get it much higher than that unless the grass is real tall. What RPM do others run their MMM? I surely have never needed to run it at 2900 (540 PTO).

I've always run mine at the 540 mark since that is where the mower was desiogned to run at. The deck only works its best when operated at design performance levels. If you get a cut good enough though, I don't see any reason to change what you're doing. The 2305 is a mowing beast!

This has been discussed repeatedly...For proper performance and blade tip speed, you need to run the RPM up to the 540 mark indicated on the tachometer, this equates to 2100 RPM at the mid-pto.

newbomb turk I too was turning my blades at around 2200. It was OK
the first couple of times ( because blades were new) but I noticed the tips of my grass was shreaded
so I bit the bullet and did what the manual said and now have a much better cut of grass. The manual says that actually the MMM is running at 2100RPM and not 2900 when the PTO is set at 540.
