Found this excellent resource 2 weeks ago and have been lurking daily. You guys are the greatest! I have a 2305 with 13 hrs. The 3rd link will lenghten itself out while using my 4' Woods rotary cutter. I have tightened the jam nut to no avail. Am I not getting it tight enough? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I too am a new 2305 owner – took delivery 6/9/2006 and currently have 6.5 hours seat time. I have experienced the same on the ballast box where it continually becomes unleveled because of the 3rd link lengthening. As all I have on currently is the ballast I have not delved into what I am doing wrong – this weekend I am going to put on my BB and will explore deeper into how to correctly tighten this thing. If no one answers you prior to next Monday hopefully I will have some sort of solution…

I am also a 2305 owner, and I saw the same thing. I put a tad of thread tape where the locking nut is and tightened. This seemed to work... I think it is just vibrating loose. However, this is obviously the quick fix (rig). Any better suggestions would be great.

i too am finding the same thing occuring. really one of my few gripes about my machine!

i'm figuring there's a good solution out there - vibration is the culprit i'm sure.

When I put my tiller on for the first time the 3rd link was to long for the tiller to set level when in the ground. So I went to the local supply store and bought one of there cheapies that is a few inches shorter. It works just great.

I don't have a 2305, but have the same problem on my 2520. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan on using the bungee strap from the loop on the 3rd link to one of the lift arms. I'm hoping that will keep it from turning. Hopefully, the 2305 has the same loop on the 3rd link as the 2520 has.

Do you have room on the threads to add another lock or jam nut on the bottom or top? Tighten both.
Out of curiosity...

Does the bungee strap come as standard equipment or will you have to buy one? If so, I'd buy the jamnut first to see if that works.

Yes, the bungee cord is standard. It is connected to the two lift arms when an implement isn't connected to the 3 point hitch.

Another nut would fit most of the time depending on the implement.
