Hi,just wanted to introduce myself,My name is john.my family and I had run a dairy farm till 1986,we stopped shipping milk at that time, but had kept some beefers for quite some time after that.we sold the Whitefaces when my dad had double knee replacement about 7yrs ago.We still maintain 75-80 acre farm by selling hay and have recently started with some christmas trees.I opted to work as an auto tech rather then to expand the operation(would have had to move out of state to expand). The choice was hard to make as a 20yr old,but as I just turned 50 I know I made the correct decision! REAL farming is a very hard life, and I know my dad wouldn't still be with me now if we continued.I don't have alot of time to do things that I would like to,keeping the farm maintained is a job in itself.Actually it the reason why I'm joining this forum.2wks ago I was almost killed while cleaning up after hurricane Sandy.Driving our 2240 down the local highway, I was rearend by a prius. The toyota was totaled and the 2240's left axle assy was busted clean off.The woman in the prius was saved by the airbags but had to be extracated by the local FD.I was able to hang on,fearing If I fell off I would have been run over by the rear tire or being hit by oncoming traffic.I will recover, but I'm black and blue in places I never knew I had!Just glad to still be here.I need to repair the 2240 ASAP,and am hoping to locate parts possible from a member here.Cherish what you have because life is way to short.Happy thanksgiving to all.John
