First, thanks to all that responed to my previous thread. Through my searching I found a used 2210 for sale locally. I am curious as to the major differences between the 2210 and the 4100. Heres what I know this far. The 2210 has a 23 HP vs the 4100 20. The 4100 has larger rear tires than the 2210and the position control that the 2210 lacks. Both machines have around 130 hours and the appropriate FEL. The 4100 has a 60" 7 iron deck and the 2210 has a 54" deck.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

The 4100 (a slightly older version of my 4110) is built a little heavier. It also has split rear brakes, higher capacity on the FEL and 3PH. And while they both share the same engine-the 2210 gets more HP by running at a higher RPM. The 4100 should also have an isolated floor area so vibrations aren't felt as much. The 4100 also has a full CAT 1 3PH versus the limited CAT 1 of the 2210. The 4100 also has 2 hydraulic pumps-one dedicated to the steering, the 2110 only has 1 pump that works the steering and implements.

Did you purchase the 2210, or are you still debating the choice? I had a 4100 and it was very reliable for me and it did everything I wanted at my last house. Went bigger in my new house so, I went bigger on the tractor end.

I have not made a purchase yet, I am still looking around. A friend of mine has a 2210 and he really likes it. Unfortunely, I am very price consious and I think the dealer with the 4100 is asking top dollar.

That 54" deck on the 2210 is a real price deducter. If you go with one, you should be looking for a 62C.

I have a 54" deck on my 2305 - get the bigger version! I do love the cut, but you just can't reach under things when the cutting deck only sticks out 6" (or so) from the tires. I lost the plastic light cover on my right signal that lives on the ROPs because I got too close to the wooden deck railings trying to cut under the deck overhang.

Aside from that, the 4100 sounds like a better built machine...

A 54" is pretty puny.

You'll love both units but they are definately different machines. The 2210 is basically a sub compact and the 4100 is a compact. the 4100 came out first so it may be quite a bit older as well. Don't be fooled by the smaller HP, the 4100 is a bigger machine. They are heavier and sturdier built. With that said the 2210 is a great performer. I have over 700 hours on mine and most of that has been with a 84" finishing mower at a very high sustained RPM. When not mowing it's often moving rocks or gravel and making the front tires baloon like crazy. As for the hitch I'll let someone who know more than me answer what is actually different about them. I have never borrowed or bought anything cat 1 that didn't fit it so far. My only 2 complaint on mine are: hyd filter placement is completely stupid (can't do anything REMOTELY off road with it or it will break off), and the same can be said for the secondary cooling fan.

I had the 2210, 210, 62C combo and people who saw it laughed until they say what I could do with it. Very mighty tractor, they will run a 5' tiller and brushhog- with certain limitation but they have the juice! I wished I had gone bigger too but had no compaints about the 2210, except I broke the hst fan (warranty)

The main difference, other than those pointed out so far, is the 2210 has its hydraulic cooler and fan underneath the tractor, AND it has lower ground clearance, which makes these items more vulnerable to damage.

One question that I have not found an answer to relates to the hydraulic pump for the attachments on the 4100. Does anyone know what the rated gallons per minute are for that pump?
