2210 owners- While checking my new 2210 transmission sight glass I noticed there is no fluid level line. It is just red in color so either there is too much trans fluid or not enough. What do you think and is ther another way to check for fluid level?

What you are seeing is the fluid. If there was no fluid the back of the sight glass has a grey mirror like finish. I believe that it should be about half way in the sight glass, that is where mine is and I think that is what I was told when they delivered it.

i had a thread on this a couple of days ago. What is confusiing is that when you are using the tractor the fluid disappears then comes back when stopped. replies I had was that this was normal

I think the manual says to wait at least 1 hour after shutting down to get an accurate reading. But yes it is normal for the fluid level to disappear when the tractor is running.

DJLX,

As the other posters have said, the fluid level should be half in the glass, half reddish and half grey/white would be what you will see. I checked mine the other day after blowing some of that white stuff hopefully for the last time this year, and the level was low. I made a mental note to add some fluid the next time I used the tractor, but when I had it outside cleaning some of that white stuff off of it, the level was fine. So there is some variance to keep watch for. I figure you'll find out everything about that tractor in the first week, in what took me two months to do! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hi,

The sight glass on my tractor is fully red when all the implements are lowered on the ground, even when the tractor is running if I'm not mistaken. Also I noticed that if your are slightly on a non level surface, the level of oil dosen't appear to be correct.

Thanks all. I was mostly concerned about not enough fluid than too much. Invarible as I remove and reinstall the FEL there will be fluid seepage so I guess having too much is not a problem.
