No, unfortunately I didn't have the stops adjusted correctly. The adjustment bolts were rusted in there, so i took the easy, and expensive, route and didn't replace them.

Some heat, penetrating fluid, and effort I have since busted them free and will buy some new ones.

marine grease on the threads will prevent them rusting again!..

Thanks Clemsonfor....but im not there yet.

Recap:

I blew the bottom out of the bolt on steering kit.

I purchased the rebuild kit, includes steering shaft, to rebuild my original steering box.

(Side note. The aftermarket steering box is quite different than the original)

I am hoping that i could return the steering shaft to Hoye as i would like to use my original with new bearings and seals...

Now i am unsure. Original shat is split. One of the tests Hoye shows in their videos is testing the shaft for endplay in and out. See the problem i am going to have?
